Default Fantasy Baseball Keeper League

Opening up a Fantasy Baseball Keeper League. I have been commissioner of the Stanley's Cup Hockey League for four years and every year its a good contest (although I have to stop drafting Carey Price too early).

This would be different, because it would be a keeper league. League is limited to 14 teams max, will run with 10. If you are interested, please PM me or post in this thread.

I'm thinking we could do a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize rather than a cash prize (although cash is good too). $50 buy in. Any takers?

Sounds good but its really really tough to get all the same owners back in an on-line league to do the keeper thing. Remember, I tried it years ago on here and although I still have many of the original owners and the league is going strong, there is usually a little turnover each year due to the draft date and times and people's schedules.

We can lay out how we deal with turnover. My goal is to have this as a long-term league. We've had all of the Stanley's Cup league back this year, and only 2 in four years have dropped out.

few questions:

How would the keepers be done, how many can you keep and for how long.

is it both AL and NL or just one league?

is it going to be cash for prizes?

OK,

This is subject to change b/c the group is going to make some decisions. 26 player teams 9 pitching slots, 12 hitting slots, 5 bench slots. 10 keepers each year.

Categories are:

Offense:
Hits
Runs
2B
3B
HR
RBI
SB
AVG
Walks

Pitching:
Wins
Complete Games
Saves
K's
ERA
WHIP
K/9

Also thinking about limiting this to 10 or 12 teams because baseball has a much shallower talent pool than the hockey league does.

Also using players from both the AL and the NL

I think 10 keepers is way too many. I think 4 maximum would be best.

Also, how do ERA, WHIP, K/9 and Batting AVG work in a points league?

If it's like the leagues I've done prior, lowest ERA and WHIP would get a 12(or whatever number of teams) and down the line. Highest BA would get that same 12.

10 keepers to me is to many, and I think a 10-12 team league is not that much of challenge. Expand it a little so there has to be some thinking in the later rounds instead of still having all-star caliber players out there.

Just my 2 cents

Also, are you meaning singles where you list hits? I only ask as everything that's a hit would be counted 2x in scoring

That is describing rotisserie scoring, not fantasy points based scoring. I am asking how those categories would work with fantasy points based scoring since that is the league type that KMD said this would be.

I agree...4-5 keepers would probably work well

It'd be treated the same way though since it's not h2h
