The problems for me is that the draft might be too long. All it takes is one person to turn the draft from a hour to a day. Also, ESPN gives you 3 minutes per pick, not ninety seconds and everything is organized. I don't need to go back through the thread and add players to the roster one by one.

quick question 40-man roster...I'm assuming that 40 man roster includes the minor league players right...and if the player is not in the ESPN player database, then that player is NOT draftable....

I understand the time it takes to enter an offline draft, I commish for a football league. I was in a league with 25 man rosters and 16 teams before, if you start the draft soon it will only take about 7-10 days to finish probably if people are active.

Like I said, not hijacking just thinking of an alternative for those of us who struggle to find time to be online for a live draft. I'm going to be good either way, if it's a live draft and I can't make it I will appropriately prerank my players and be happy as well.

I'd opt for doing it online through ESPN if possible. That way if it gets late and I need to bail, I can go auto-draft and not worry about screwing the league. Plus groundhog doesn't need the aggregation of manually going back in to the site as commish and updating our rosters.

Have we determined a date and time, yet?

Thanks for reminding me, the draft IS on ESPN. It is to much of a hassle to do it here.

Ok, if most people can't make it we will change it to a offline draft here. I want to wait until everyone has commented about the time before changing it.

40 man roster will probably take 2 or more hours to complete. That's pretty late to start a draft.

Good point. Again, I am going to wait until everyone has posted until I change the time.

I know you're a night owl, but if I get a vote, I'd rather go earlier. Otherwise I may have to just go with the auto-draft feature. Could we do a Saturday or Sunday afternoon draft? Would that work for everyone?

Yeah there's no way I could do that late. I'd prefer not to auto draft but that's what I would have to do as well.

I'll be in the minority that an 11 pm EST draft works best for me, only because between work and two kids and I can't sit and draft anything before 10 really.

I am ok with pre-ranking if I have to, I feel confident in my ability to adjust a roster (even though my true vote is for an offline draft here)

Ok, I see that most of the people want to make the draft a bit earlier. I only made it 11 because i am in central time. How about 9 est?

I made it early so that if a player gets injured, it would affect your team and it would make it a bit more authentic. Obviously, it could be changed if everyone agrees to change it.

I'd be okay with pushing it back a few weeks. If it's a dynasty league and I have to keep these guys, I'd rather wait and see what shakes out first before I commit. I'm okay either way, though.
