As much as I love this product -- and my buying habits are simliar to Mike's (I buy what I like, product-wise, not necessarily what sports I'm a fan of) -- I have to say that Panini's NT Basketball is still the product of the year. PP Five Star is the best presented, best collated (so far), product I've seen; however, considering the initial price point on panini NT basketball ($325/box if you got in on the pre-sale) and the value per box (which has not tapered off much, if at all), it's still my overall vote for product of the year. We won't know how PP5S does in the long run; however, NASCAR has a tendancy to taper off in single pricing and stay fixed (or therearound) in box. With the low production (~1150 boxes, based on base collated) I'd imagine this will stay limited -- I'd just love to know how many boxes have been broke so far!

IMO this is the kind of quality we should be getting with products like Topps Sterling, Exquisite, or insert any high end product.. This product hit a homerun IMO with more quality and just overall more eye appealing cards. It's not just limited to firesuits, you have so much more variety or memoribilia inserted. Price point I think is dead on. People pay pretty much the same amount for Exquisite and I don't think Exquisite even scratches the surface of what 5 star is.

$550 for one hit? Better be something special...

some dealers i chat with tell me this product is hot and wont budge on price--but some buyers tell me this product is not gonna hold up..who to believe dealers to sell or buyers who buy low.

Showcase never holds up, so it makes one wonder if this will.

I've been hearing much of the same from dealers. I'm just keeping a close eye on the singles on the bay, and there already seems to be a bit of a stagnation.

Topps Sterling (baseball) was down the drain before it came out this year, so I think everyone really wants something to root for. And I do think the price point is fair at around $550 or so, it's simply how the singles will do. Unbroke boxes I believe will hold their value, similar to NT and similar to how showcase has held it's value unbroke.

yeah but they are not at $550 a box they are more at least at the 3 places i buy from and they will not budge less than $1750

i have offer $1650 for their cases but that is when they told me everyone is talking highly on it..but like you stated singles dont reflect that
