Default Michael Phelps 2004 Fans of the game auto

Somebody picked up the deal of the year on this card this morning.
A seller listed there Phelps Fans of the game auto for a BIN price of $100.
Ebay #Item number: 330262848598
Didn't realize what these are going for. Selling for $600-$700 and will probably go higher now. Should have gotten up earlier.
You can go back to a Ebay auction on the 4th of August and one sold for $98.56
This card probably just passed Tiger Woods SP authentic rookie auto for the biggest increase.
Anybody have any boxes of Leaf rookie & stars

The non-autoed version has seen a much larger increase (percentage wise).

A few months ago the Phelps could be had for about $25 and the non auto version for pocket change, now the auto is $600+ and the non auto version $25+. It's rare to see a jump like that, the last time I was something similar was with the Steve Irwin (the crocodile hunter) auto when he died, his auto went from $40 to $550 overnight and his costume card shot up from $10 to $150.

Not to be the Ahole here but what does Michael Phelps have to do with Baseball? From what I have seen his favorite sports team is the Baltimore Ravens as shown on the top of his card; so if it should be anywhere other than non-sports my guess would be the football threads..

I'm going to guess because the card was released in a baseball product....Other wise there is no link to baseball...I can see another link to football since the Chad Johnson challenge...

I was just guessing because I know the Fan of the Game inserts were in baseball also. Well then there are no relations between Phelps and baseball.
