I hope I'm not the only one who thinks so, but for a bunch of boxes bought for $70-80, there sure are alot of morons trying to sell these waaayyyyy above what they should be. I see most of these card selling less than $20 before long regardless of print runs! No Marty Janetty auto should ever be over $20 unless its a dual auto with HBK.

cant blame people for trying to make money but yeah i agree. i just plan to sell cheaper than them. enough to maybe make a little or break even. if this stuff really does sell out completely i can see singles really rising in value but not for a while

I find it hard to believe that most of these cards would be selling for less than $20 before long, as suggested above. Outside of Lanny Poffo and Beefcake (whose stickers autos go for very little) what wrestlers in this set (if any) have current certified autographs on the market that go for less than $20? Personally, I think this is a one shot issue--I cannot imagine Leaf going through the time and trouble to do it again (at least on this scale with on card autos). Also, I guarantee that you won't see Topps doing a WWE on card auto issue like this one.
On the whole, this seems like a pretty special release to me.

I bought four boxes of this and thought it was much better than expected. It somewhat noticeable how bad some of the sketches can be when opening four boxes of this while also opening three boxes of Marvel Premiere. Still, you can't go wrong with getting autos like Kevin Nash, Buff Bagwell, and Bob Backlund to name a few. If anything, I think some of the people who are selling it now may be underselling some of the guys. I would have thought a Backlund or a Hall to 25 would go for more than $50. Who knows, I think overall this will be a big hit and will dry up in a matter of weeks.

This stuff will have SO much long-term value, ala WCW... Depends on if "investors" have the patience (definitely not) while the collectors eat it up sooner than later.

It seems like you wouldn't be able to do this as a yearly set, but if someone tried again in say, 10 years, I think it would be great. Get the "legends" of the ratings war era (Austin, Rock, Sting, Goldberg, Undertaker, Hardys, Edge/Christian, etc) and it'd be a home run.

1. No one guessed the WCW set would have the value that it does back then. 2. WCW autos were one per box 3. WCW autos were actual pictures 4. 50+ autos in Leaf vs 100 + autos in WCW Also look at the price of Hogan autos $100 vs $600 Its amazing stuff but kinda like comparing apples and oranges. |

What kind of prices are any of you seeing shops selling boxes for?
Did it end up being worth the wait. I know a lot of people complained and backed out after delay. I wonder if any of those are now looking to pick up some. So far has anyone been keeping track of the autos with variations? Wendy Richter has some inscriptions it looks like on some low serial # cards. OMG has cool skull design on some. Koko has a few with wings. Maybe best looking card in set. Nikita has some kind inscription going on Buff with a few I'm still shocked Leaf got Jake Snake Roberts to sign cards and return them on time. |
