Topps Olympic Auto Prices

Last few Lochte sales have been brutal. Tomorrow will be huge though with his duel with Phelps and a chance for double gold

The ship has indeed sailed. I see potential in Raisman and a few others that might win gold like Felix. But the real buyers aren't gonna pay $150 for an olympian signature. They seem to top out at about $50. The people that are really getting burned are those who bought in July. Glad I only bought a Raisman as we severely overestimated the market. I did have my doubts.

Indeed...you live and learn, I suppose. I had fun busting the hobby boxes, I did a group break, and bought a couple singles on the cheap. I had a few sales and some decent flips. I won't break even, but I'll have a couple unique cards of some Olympic medalists for my PC and that'll be that

Almost all of my Olympic stuff sold in June on COMC as I sent it in after opening a case, and I marked it up to higher book prices to wait for the Olympics. Once it started selling at these prices I wish I would have ordered 3 cases.. Next time order early, list early is what I'll do again as it seems to be the way to go. I just sold an auto yesterday on COMC, it was a Nathan Adrian for $29, and it's high book is $25, so things are still selling there, but not like they were months ago.

I put up a Rebecca Soni Gold Auto /15 5 days ago 5 day auction, took till today for action on it. I am happy with the price it is at right now. I tried to list it to end the night of her main race. Plus got lucky and she broke a world record last night. Lot of watches and views think over 22/111.
Seems that auto prices will stay decent if they are winning.

ust my opinion but if there were auto's of all five of the Fierce Five I think they would rank like this (when everything settles down in a few weeks or so)

1. Douglas
GAP
2. Wieber
3. Maroney
4. Raisman
GAP
5. Ross

Basically my point is that Topps missed out on two athletes that would have sold REALLY well (Douglas and Maroney). Both have super personalities, will leave with at least two golds each, and have the best shots of being on the 2016 team, IMO.

I really hope that UD, Topps or Panini releases a product with autographs from those two. McKayla's signature is beautiful, anyways...would be a good add to an all-sports product of some sport.

Pretty pissed that a regular auto version is going for double of my Bronze version with the exact same amount of time left. Not sure how that happens....I've got a good title and it's been up for 7 days.

On the other hand, I probably shouldn't have jumped the gun and accepted $420 on my gold Phelps after the first race...cost me hundreds of additional profit.

I wouldn't worry about this one too much...someone mentioned that the parallels aren't really obeying that "multiplier" effect we see with standard sports autos -- I honestly don't think you'd have gotten much more. Consider it a win

I sold my Arielle Martin Verhaaren base auto last night for $15. Nothing special, but I thought I'd mention it. She has not competed yet so I may have sold early but I'm not too worried about it.

Well, I sold mine on 7/28. Since then 01/15 sold on 7/31 for $850 and 09/15 sold for $600 today.

I sold mine on COMC for $50 in late June...still not sure how that happened

My guess is someone accidentally hit the wrong button or something. I just figured I'd throw it up there for 50 bucks when it showed up in my inventory and I'd just entertain offers...didn't expect it to sell for NEARLY that much.

I was lucky enough for the person to accept my counter of $600 when most people have been offering $300-$375 for it. Not sure how one sold for $850 BIN when mine was listed at $50 less than that one. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

As for the product, I definitely got overhyped with it. My Lochte sold for $78 yesterday after declining a $175 offer last week. I guess when you have someone like Phelps setting the bar so high during the last Olympics, every other Olympics where someone's not winning a gold medal in every event seems disappointing even though it's very normal.

Anyways though. The fun factor and great value made this one of the funnest breaks ever for me. Call me crazy but I may buy a few hobby boxes once the prices go down a bit and hope for a couple of memorable autos for my own personal collection.

No way -- I'm thinking about doing the same myself! I love the Champions on-card autographs...I might try to put that set together and keep it for my PC.

In terms of the gymnasts...

McKayla should be back in 2016, vault specialists usually hang around a while...Gabby will be a MAJOR celebrity with multiple endorsement deals and appearances when she gets back to the states.

Oh wait, neither of them are in the product.

Yea, other than Alex Morgan, Phelps and Missy if she finishes strong most of the autograph subjects will be forgotten...hopefully that means box and single prices drop for major Olympic fans like me!

Was Alex fine after the match? Kneed the goalie pretty hard, really should have been a PK or a card to the goalie, Morgan had an easy goal if the goalie didn't trip her.
