Yeah I was hoping for 3-400 out of it. Oh well...still doubled my money + some on it. Wieber seems to be the only one I've lost money on thus far, so I've had a pretty good success rate this Olympics. Just not the astronomical numbers we all were expecting. Gonna load up on Missys over the next few years and hopefully have a bunch of them come next Olympics.

What's up with this auction, shilling or an idiot? Because the gold auto that ended 9 mins after went for 300 less.

Yep, I had the other Gold Aly that ended today, and I can almost guarantee the winning bidder for the $400 Gold Aly is from England. I got numerous emails asking me to open my auction up to them, but I didn't want the hassle of dealing with international this time around. Thumbs up to the other guy!

Nice, I was wondering why on earth a card would go for 300 more than the other. Perfect explanation.
I feel bad for the guy on here that sold the Raisman rainbow 1/1 for 220. Open it up to the international bidders, take some better pictures, better description and it could've been a $500 card. |

how do you guys figure out how much to charge for worldwide shipping?? or do you just do it as "calculated cost" and them message the buyer after checking with the post office

That is 100% correct. The ONLY way paypal will cover your shipments to international customers is to have online tracking and signature conformation.
When I ship under $75, I will usually allow for 1st class international at $4 (or more depending on the weight). For between $75 to $124, I require USPS Priority Mail International at $17. Anything $125 or up requires USPS Express with full insurance starting at $35 (I try to guage how much insurance will add to a final value). That being said, if I am working with one of my many international customers that I have worked with in the past, I will allow them to pay as gift and send in a way to help them out on shipping and "other expenses". |

Ok, I crunched the number and I actually came out on top! I had to calculate it 2 more times just to be sure but ya! Whew!
3 Things: 1. The bigger guys (minus Phelps) crashed and burned but I bought them in so early that I still made a profit! 2. The mid to low end guys that won gold gained a lot of followers and thus their card prices reflected that (which is good since I bought them early on for pennies). 3. This was a lot of fun!

The thing about international is that if its over $250 you must have signature confirmation, which is a giant pain in the ass with international. Express will not work.
That guy messaged me about bidding but it was the last day of the auction, I edited it to allow shipping to the UK but I guess it still didn't let him bid. |

Overall it wasn't too profitable for anybody that didn't get in on the bottom floor. If you bought in july or was cracking wax it didn't make total sense.
Phelps sold really well. Some of my convictions were right about the other so called top tier athletes. They stunk up the joint. Like messier said the low-mid tier athletes who won were the real winners. Rhode, Soni, Raisman, Misty may, etc. Plus Shawn Johnson and Liukin were solid for $30-50 on every auto. All in all it was a fun ride. I cleared everything out, grand total sales of about $470 with no top tier Autographs to inflate my line. Maybe a lil bit in the red, I think I spent about $500 ripping wax. Actually a pretty good return on my money considering the other wax I rip at about 20-50% return. |
