What's the appeal with Olympic Blasters?

I don't understand the appeal with the Olympic cards, much less with the Olympic blasters. I understand that everyone wants the Phelps auto, but seriously...buying blasters is just a waste of money. For $20 you will 99% of the time never get your money back on the box and the cards won't be collectible after the Olympics are over with. I would bet if you wait til after the Olympics you can pick a majority of the autos up for $30 or less.

I don't think anyone here intends on holding any of their Olympic stashes much beyond the closing ceremonies. Instead, it will be moved to the public at large.

we're not picking them up to keep, we're picking them up to sell...The hype with the Olympics gets some people who are not sporstcollectors into getting autos and soveniers...as for blasters, much better value in the blasters for these than baseball, football or basketball

Apparently, you don't know jack about this release as there have been many great auto hits in the retail/blaster packs.

Apparently the Lolo Jones rainbow auto 1/1 was pulled in a blaster by a member here. It's now on eBay with a few other cards for 9,999.99$

I know enough to not waste my $ on Blasters when you can buy a guarenteed 3 hit Hobby box for the same price range... $70-80 instead of gambling on blasters. Where did u get ur conner dwyer from a blaster?

Actually, the Conor Dwyer came from the only hobby box that I busted along with a Mary Whipple auto, Ryan Lochte pin, and a Missy Franklin gold relic (sure sold that one too early).

Pricing on the hobby is lor like $85-95 which is more equivelent to 4 blasters except you get more base and chase with the blasters for the money...these also sell. In addition, while there are 0 hit blasters, there are also 2 hit ones.

yeah considering all the other great pulls I've had in blasters from other sports and what Ive seen in this...I'll stick to blasters

Personally, I am keeping my Olympic items, I like the design of the cards. I am going to be auctioning off a Nathan Adrian Gold Relic and an Aly Raismon Gold Auto just because the possible return is too much to pass up, but I'm keeping the rest of my hits. And yes, both were pulled from blasters.

and cards of the Dutch field hockey team..
