Famous Fabrics Forgeries?

I saw a thread on here about Famous Fabrics or some company like that who produced a set called somethinglike like Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood. Someone posted they got a 1/1 Charlton Heston auto card but it was revealed to have been signed by a secretary. Why do companies these days produce products like that? If you cannot be 100% sure of a signature or even try to do research then please do not put it in a product. I hate the hobby has come to this.

Especially when most of the autograph memorabilia out there is fake, this includes signatures with COAs. If they are using just COAs to authentic these signatures, events like the Heston will happen. But a lot of people do not know or care if they are not guaranteed to be authentic.

Yeah its dumb. These days you cannot rely on a COA because anyone can sign something and print out a descent looking COA on their own printer. COAs mean absolutely nothing unless its from a legit source like the NFL or MLB. Thats like all of those land grants and stuff signed by the presidents. Companies are passing off cut autos after the years of Andrew Jackson and thats when like 99% of everything was signed by a secretary.

And I do feel there is a HUGE difference in an isolated incident that was handled properly by the company president over a signature which has recently been shown to be secretarial and an accusation of forgery on the company's part. Not even in the same boat.

Ok it's not a forgery then. Why else can we call it when someone signs another persons name?

And just to be clear, I never said te company engaged in forgery. I made a statement that at least 1 autograph in that set was not genuine. I actually like the cards just don't understand why that got into the production run.

Pretty sure this sums it up. The authenticators arent always right. I know of things that were signed in person and failed authentication.

Interesting. I wonder if the replacement would be another Heston or someone else. We shall see...

It was on the other post but it said they buy up items from auction houses and estates and go by the COAs that accompany the items or something. No idea if the company authenticates it before they cut it or not...
