Default Mike Tyson Boxing Cards...

I grew up playing Mike Tyson's punch out and reading about the results of his fights in the newspaper and catching highlights on network television. We did not have cable.

A few years ago I purchased a few of the DVD's that cover his early fights and it is just simply insane. Mike Tyson was a wrecking machine.

I decided at that time I wanted to collect his cards.

I have taken a great deal of interest in the Panini rookie as I think that is just such an awesome sports card.

Here are a few of my favorite ones.

Yeah I have a couple decent Tyson cards.
Favorite one being

Used to have the 2nd year Panini and I still have a copy of the Question of Sport one.

Favorite boxer of all time no matter what else he did in his life.

There was an interesting one that came out in Leaf 2012 Inscriptions. Check this out:

Wax Heaven, The Wax Heaven Card of the Year

Wonder how that one made it past the crew at Leaf.

I have continued to increase the number of Mike Tyson cards in my collection and here are number of other ones. I think he has some great cards like I said and is definitely a challenge to collect.

Yes it is very odd!

Apparently it is pretty rare and PSA has only graded 6 of these vs 48 of his action shot. There is also a Jack Nicklaus back of head view and it has been graded 21 times. I am not sure of the story behind it but it has something to do I believe with the booster packs. These were from a card game in the UK.

I was thrilled to get this in the mail today. A tremendous example of the SuperSport back. So far there have only been seven of these graded by PSA.

I need to add the Tyson and Gritti to my collection to have all three.

Yes, the "back of the head" Tyson card came only from packs, an add-on series for the standard game.

I just got this in the mail today.

This card obviously set me back a decent amount so I listed a bunch of stuff to help with the cost.

I am so thrilled to add this monster to my collection!

I have quite a few of these graded and always try and get the top grade of whatever card I collect.

Sometimes it takes a while. I am excited to add this to my collection.

I did quite a bit of research trying to find out what was the true rookie when Tyson cards first started really getting some action.

The Italian back is indeed the actual rookie with the UK back having cards with info from the French Open in 1987.

It appears BGS has picked up on it and are now labeling the UK version as 1987.

PSA lists the Italian #153 under both 1985 & 1986.

Search results for "mike tyson"

Yep. PSA dropped the ball on the Tyson card. The first one I sent in was labeled 85 and then 86 and then they merged the pop report with the 85.

There is no way to tell what the true numbers are on this card. Many of the UK were labeled Italian as well.

Here are the pics I took tonight. I am very excited about this card. A month back when the PSA 10 surfaced through the PWCC auction it was the first time in the entire time I have looked for Mike Tyson cards one came up for sale on EBAY. That is nearly four years. It was the first increase in the Pop in that time frame too.

This is a super strong card. Razor sharp corners, great centering and good back centering too. It is a very solid 10. I love crossing cards like this off my want list.
