Default Ric Flair Heritage 2005 Auto That Sold on Ebay

I don't know how many people saw this and I wanted everyone's opinions on whether it was real or not? Why has it only shown up this one time? Does it look legit. I personally think the signature could be legit as Flair signs a ton. It was obviously signed with a basic sharpie as you can see by the streaking in it. I am not sure about the card itself being real.

I saw that listed the other day. The card looks great but I don't think it's real. I wish it was real, maybe they should add one edition to this set in every years Topps release. I'd love to own a Flair, Stone Cold, Rock, Jim Ross, etc. autographs styled like this set.

That card is 100% FAKE! Anyone who knows anything about the 2005 Heritage set knows there are only 17 cards in the set and Flair is not one of them. I agree they should do an update set for these cause there were very cool.

I know it probably fake but the how did he get the card in the first place. It does say certified autograph on the back.

Just bc its not on the checklist doesnt mean it is fake. Take a look at the booker t and britishbulldog topps wcw autos not on the checklist as well as animal xpac undertaker and mark henry from 98 and 99 comic images sets. They were just never sent back to the company. I do believe the flair is a fake and a couple more have even just sold today. I dont believe its a fake based on checklist reasons though. Its a fake bc its a fake.

Its fake because you can make one with an ink jet color printer just like people were making the fake Hogan autos. One call to Topps and they would have the FBI all over this one.

I'd think the Topps Heritage cardstock would be impossible to duplicate exactly. You can't simply print to cardstock from an ink jet printer. A side-by-sde comparison to the real cards would be needed.

I guess fake, but who really knows if Flair might have not returned the cards or they were lost, etc.

Someone needs to go to the source and ask Ric Flair!

Here is a card I recently got signed.

The signature on the card that was listed on EBAY looks way off. I realize signatures can vary but that one looks no where close.

Has this card been rumored to exist?

I think the Heritage auto's seem consistant enough. A person autograph can change a bit over 7+ years. The Leaf Originals are good to see how an auto can vary. Of course autos are easily faked.

Here's a link to completed listings - 2 different Heritage card pairs by 2 different sellers. (and why are these showing up in pairs?!?)

Seeing the set as a whole, I'm inclined to think that it is fake.

On the card photo placements, all of the heads touch or come very close to the top of the TV screen. (with the exception of the Hogan action shot).

The Ric Flair card has a moderate gap between the top of his head and the top of the TV screen, which isn't consistant with the set.

There is some good information on the autos here. I would think that if this was legit there would be information that would have surfaced before.

I did a TON of research on this set when it came out because I wanted to finish it. Only oddballs are:

- Hillbilly Jim and Bobby Heenan are retail exclusive
- Christy Hemme is the only one to sign in black ink

Hogan has also signed in black ink. I had a bgs9.5 black ink hogan. It was used as a replacement for damaged autos

I sent the guy an Ebay message last night trying to get the provenance on the card. Below is exactly what he sent me in response:

"i bought the cards from a guy who is friends with david and reed flair. cards were sent to ric to sign and return to be inserted into packs but he never sent back. thats all i know about them. i only know of a few of them"

I guess it is possible that, like some of the WCW cards, cards were sent to Ric Flair which he never returned. Someone on another board mentioned that Flair was listed as a signer on the original sell sheet for this product. However, I agree with others that the autograph looks off when compared to other Flair ones I have seen. Flair's current signature looks pretty consistent with some of the older ones I have seen.

The card may be the deal of a lifetime, but I would never spend that kind of money unless a was certain of its authenticity.

The signature itself is of little value on this. If it was a real card id rather it be blank.

I would still not trust it unless it came from Flair himself.

If it was actually produced, the Topps Vault might have a proof in their archives, but I wouldn't expect them to answer any questions about it.

I would agree that the blank one would be the more attractive card to own, if real. I think the blank card looks pretty legit, but what the heck do I know.

Or ask David or Reid if they know anything about the cards.

Heck, maybe they even have a big stack the cards to sell...
