I was thinking about this - I think the alternate art should be of them as their lesser known personas - I think that would really increase the chase.

Leaf has stated their will be some overseas/international legends in the new set and some crazy names. Also some very old guys that probably wont be doing many signings.
Hoping for these guys.

Mad Dog Vachon
Butcher Vachon
Stan Hansen
Austin Idol
Fabulous Ones
Baron Von Rachke
Nick Bockwinkel
Moondogs not sure who is left of them
Killer Kahn
Verne Gagne
King Kong Bundy
Kevin Von Erich
Carlos Colon
any Japan Legends
Dynamite Kid
Mr T
Corporal Kirshner
Jesse Ventura
Blackjacks Mulligan and Lanza
Dave Redneck Schultz/ Dr D
Jimmy Snuka
Ole and Arn Anderson
Jimmy Boogie Woogie Man Valiant
Ultimate Warrior
Tommy Wildfire Rich
Masked Superstar
Samoans
Rocky Johnson maybe he returns his cards this time
Paul Ellering
Ricky Morton
Mil Mascaras
Moolah and Mae young
Harley Race
Ahmad Johnson
Ron Simmons
Bad News Brown

Would love to see these guys but pretty sure they are working in WWE and can't sign
Sgt. Slaughter
Jerry Lawler
Dusty Rhodes
Bushwhackers although they have signed in new WWE set
Patterson
Steamboat

As for repeats. Sure we will sign SP autos of Hogan and Flair.
I'd hope these guys are brought back in new set Ivan Koloff, George Steele, Nash., Piper.

Sure with them going into WWE HOF both Backlund and Bruno are out. Was nice they did get them in last year.

There were some people under WWE contract in 2012 and they signed for the leaf set. Also alot of wrestlers under contract for WWE do signings for other companies. Shawn Micheals just recently did a signing for some independent company a few weeks ago. I think it all comes down to money with some of these wrestlers. hopefully Leaf will make a push forward and we will see this set take the next step forward. Its about time someone gave wrestling fans a decent set to collect.

I think Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell are also names that we will see. As a MN native I am hoping so.

Gorgeous George is also dead.

As far as the suggested names by everyone, I think you have to remember some of these guys most famous gimmicks are names I believe still trademarked by the WWE, so you're only going to be able to see them sign under their real names or pre/post WWE gimmicks. So guys like Goldust, Ahmed Johnson, Virgil, Bushwhackers, Demolition. etc. aren't likely going to be able to appear under those names, and not sure what the interest in seeing cards signed by these guys as anything else.

In any event, as I indicated, I will be bowing out of all future Leaf products after what happened to me with my Scott Hall red ink card, but might buy a few cheap singles of guys who have never signed any other trading cards before, so I hope there are some really old school guys who might never sign again.

I am probably missing something and I very well could be wrong but if that was indeed the case wouldn't the same have been true for say Vader, The Honky Tonk Man, and The Iron Sheik from this years set?

Yeah I wonder how trademark works on signings of names.
I know One Man Gang only signed that version for Leaf, but in recent WWE product he signed Akeem and OMG versions. WWE owns Akeem gimmick and made him change to that.
Bushwhackers all signed Brushwhacker Luke or Butch in WWE autos. I would love though seeing them sign for Leaf as Sheepherders, that is when they were at their best anyways.
Iron Sheik was not a WWF gimmick creation. So Vince doesn't own it as far as I know. Same goes with some of the older school guys.

I know Iron Sheik and Vader both used those names/gimmicks long before they wrestled in the WWE/F. Honky Tonk Man never used that exact name as far as I know before he entered the WWF, but it's possible Vince couldn't fully trademark the name/gimmick as the name was already from a movie title and HTM's gimmick is basically nothing more than that of an Elvis impersonator which obviously is not an original concept to WWE.

I would not mind if some of the wrestlers for the next leaf set, signed their real names as opposed to the WWE trademarked name. I think people would understand and most wrestling fans who would be spending the money on the cards know their real names anyways. I just want to get as many sigs as possible before some of the older ones pass away. (Thank God for the 98/99 wcw topps auto set)

I don't mind them signing again either, as long as there is a fair chance of being able to pull the cards from the boxes.

I have a Batista base card auto'd from when I took my son to meet him in Omaha a few years back. He was a real standoffish prick. Wouldnt even talk to the kids.

I think there are plenty of old fans out there that would make this set very successfull. It is a wrestling set, it really isn't meant for the mass public lol, it is meant for wrestling fans. And considering they only make a few hundred of each card in the set I think there will be plent of "marks" who will gobble them up. I can name at least 30 guys who don't have a certified card to date that I would like to see on one. Now they start throwing in Japanese legends such as the Great Muta and that would be just awesome. Just my opinion, but I definitely hope there is a second set with no repeats or just the top draws repeating such as Hogan, Flair, and Hart. If you don't know who the guys names that have been listed in the post are, then you are not a true fan, and this set wouldn't be for you, there are plenty of guys who it caters to though.

As explained before 224 cards added to a market does not cause one to flood. I for one have zero concern about the value of my Flairs.

I see the points RBI44 is making here--I too share concerns if this were to become a yearly product. I also agree that, to get the dealer pre-sales going, they will need to put some repeat names in there (probably Hogan and Flair, since they sign for every other Leaf product).

However, I don't underestimate the lunacy of wrestling card collectors (myself included) when it comes to new signers. If they put Ultimate Warrior, Jesse Ventura, Goldberg, Sting, etc. in there, interest will be strong. Also, I am withholding judgment until I see the new art--I believe that if the art is really strong, people are gonna jump at it regardless of how many repeat signers are present. Would like to see if Leaf does any tweaks to the product (i.e. dual autos of tag teams, etc.) which may increase interest.

To me, it seems too early to come to many conclusions without seeing a sell sheet and the artwork. As well as the initial product did, I would imagine the second one will sell pretty well, as those who were "late to the party" on the initial set will try to get in on the ground floor with this one.

I agree, also guys like Mike rotunda would sell, there are a ton of wrestling fans that remember when he wrestled in WCW be fore he became IRS. Just look at what the WCW VHS's sell for on ebay. because they are not on dvd format, Some of them pull over $100 a pop. clearly it isn't just 4 or 5 guys buying all of this stuff up. Just because some people are not big fans of them doesn't mean wrestling fans don't want a legit auto card of them before they pass away. I know there are a ton of 8X10's on ebay but even in pro football a Montana pack pulled auto card would sell for way more than an 8X10 Montana auto. I would be all in for a second set in 2013 or even 2014 if it takes extra time to get everyone signed. Leaf could even get guys like John Cena or Randy Orton because that is their real names, also I would love to see the "big show" sign in the set as "Giant" that is when he was at his best and most athletic.

No love for La Parka here? I want an on card auto from him so damn bad, but I refuse to pay a ton for one the old WCW cards he signed.

I am pretty sure he cannot sign La Parka anymore as he lost the rights to his name. I think he is now L. A. Park.
