Default Cool Leaf Wrestling "Iron Sheik" Inscription

Thought this card was kind of cool that I picked up recently if only because I don't recall seeing another one in this set with his full wrestling name. Anyone else see one before?

Great find! Always cool seeing a inscription pop up from this set.

I have not seen any other ones he signed like that. I saw it on Ebay as well. As sloppy as it is it was probably the first one he signed and then thought better of putting the IRON on. I wish it hadn't been sold in a lot.

Thanks guys. It actually looks better in person as even before I bid on it I also was thinking the signature looks a little messy. In person it comes across much better for whatever reason which I was pleasantly surprised by. I actually liked that it came in a lot in that I think people missed it and I ended up (even with shipping) getting it for under 7.00 (which I think is a steal for this card given the regularly signed alternate often goes for about 15 bucks in and of itself and this "iron sheik" version is probably a 1 of very few). If it had popped by itself for even 50 bucks Id strongly have considered hitting the buy it now given the Sheik has become a bit of a pop culture icon, it's the alternate art, and he's a former WWF champion with the distinction of helping launch Hulkamania. I like the full name inscriptions but haven't seen a lot of guys outside of Neidhart consistently do it. A stray George Steele and the "big sexy" with the Nash yellows and course bret used his full name in every signature. I'd like to see an inscription pop up on Valentine, Jake, Hacksaw, and Bruno "the living legend" but I am not holding my breath. Recently picked up a One Man Gang with the skull sketch (base white) which I haven't seen a lot of on the non color background images recently. It's a cool sub set of collecting to this set which was as likely accidental as anything.

Congrats on the pickup. Had it on my watch list, but forgot to place a bid.

Very nice! I was I interested in that lot as well for the Sheik alone but ended up picking up a few other things instead. I'd be interested in it should you decide moving it at some point.

Weird how he overlaped his first and last names.

My Sheik 1/1's. I post this for one reason only. Like a j@ck#@#@#@ I allowed my Leaf Cut signature case to get scratched. Does anyone know if this is something that BGS can reslab for me or if I am sol on it?

I always liked this iron sheik card the best. I thought it really summed up a heel from the 80s

ryangeorgelaw-

BGS will reslab that for you for their basic $5 fee. They reuse the info tabs in the new cases

That's the only Leaf card signed "Iron Sheik" that I can recall seeing. Very nice pick up!

My guess is it may have been one of the first cards he signed. Then he realized with card size and extra writing he decided to just go with SheiK sig and dropped using Iron on any others.

I have heard he mostly now just does Sheik sig. With all his issues I don't blame him. Was a great story on front page of Yahoo sports about him. Will try and find link and post it.

Is his Wrestling All Star card his rookie? Dpeck is that one a tough one in high grade.

Yes I would consider the 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series B Iron Sheik to be his rookie.

In terms of difficulty. Every card from the set is difficult in high grade but if you had to choose a few that are easier I would put the Iron Sheik in that category. The current population of PSA 10's is 6. There is a seller on EBAY that has one up now that I know who recently sold two to someone in the middle east for $800.

Here is one of my PSA 10's.
