Default Ultimate Warrior Rookie

It seems like wrestling cards are really on fire right now. The 82 set really paced the way and now others are catching up. One wrestler that I haven't really see his cards pick up steam is the ultimate warrior. I was a huge wrestling fan from about wrestlemania 1-6. The Ultimate Warrior was one of the biggest draws back then and was the first person I ever saw beat hulk hogan without cheating. I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on his rookie cards. The options are 89 classic or 89 Market scene limited. I have a 1990 market scene limited but have never seen an 89 one. How difficult are the 1989 classic? I seem to see them pretty often sell for peanuts. In surprised his cards aren't in higher demand

All of the 1989 Ultimate Warrior cards are very scarce, but he has been basically out of the sport for well over a decade. While he was once a major star, he has been on bad terms with the WWE, and his short-lived time with the WCW in the late didn't help his career much.

The 2 rookie cards would be:
1989 Classic cards (like 1990 Classic only much rarer)
1989-1990 (released in 1990) Market-Scene Limited Series Three (New Zealand and Austrailia). Some would consider this a regional issue, since no US distribution. Some have speculated that a card with a 1989-1990 might exist.

also a few other items:
1989 Gold Bond Ice Cream (food premium)
1989 Quaker Oaks Dipps (food premium)
1989 Market-Scene Limited Postcard (if you want to count a postcard)
1989 A&A Co. WWF SuperStars Vinyl Sticker (if you want to count a sticker)

Here's a rundown of his PSA slabbed cards. Now many of the early cards graded yet.

There is also a 1989 Classic Logo card.

Search results for "ultimate warrior"

Has anyone actually seen a market scene Warrior card with the 1989 date on the back? Every one that I have gotten only had the 1990 date on the back. If there is a 1989 version I would consider it one of the most scarce cards from that era. The ones in the pop report are just the 1990 version.

I've only seen 1990 version of the Third series (card #11). The thirds series set is sometimes refered to as 1989-1990 because the whole series started in 1989. I don't think it should really be considered a 1989 card.

If there actually is an alternate "1989-1990" copyright set, I haven't seen it. Does anyone have alternate cards from the 1990 Third series? if so, there could be a chance for a different Warrior card, but it is doubtful, I think.

I sent in some from the 1990 Classic set recently and got all PSA 9's.

It is funny you mention the Ultimate Warrior.

I just snapped up three examples of the Quaker Dips which I believe to be his first appearance on a card. I am looking forward to getting them this week.

I too feel his cards have potential.

PSA hasn't graded any yet, but Beckett will grade them.

I just got this in the mail today. It is a very cool item.

My original plan was to cut it up but the surface appears a little scratched so I am going to hold off.

I didn't know these were handcut. I like the old school wwf symbol on the cards. I just bought some more 89 classic packs. Hopefully I pull a warrior.

There is no way to tell on the Classic cards if they are 1989 or 1990 from the 1989 packs.

I bought a box for the same exact reason and they were 1990 once I opened them. I have had the same problem with the cello packs too. I sent in some of the cards in my last sub to bail me out from the bad buy.

I bought a whole set of them and got that one in the mail too.

It is a great shot of the Macho Man and Elizabeth.

1988 Wwf Superstars

Are these the same set? I think there is a good chance they are.

It says collect all 18 WWF Superstar trading cards in the description under Pocket Scrapbook Offer.

I think they are the same and this means PSA grades them too I hope.

I forgot about 1988!

The Ultimate Warrior had a *different* Dipps card - #7 of the 1988 Quaker Oaks Dipps set. Looks like PSA will grade them, at least as packages.

The Ultimate Warrior also has cards in a WWF playing card deck in 1988, as well.

I bought a single from him a few days ago. I think the box I posted is the 1988 version and the one at the bottom of this link is the 1989.

The picture used for the one I purchased is definitely before the second one that is shown in the link from Huskers site.

I am waiting for this to arrive in the mail. BGS grades them as 1988.

You have the 1988 card.

Here's the 1989 card from huskerhavs' site:

Just how rare are the 1989 Market Scene Postcards (not the "bubblegum cards" series)? Just picked up a set (I think) as I'd never seen them before. What do the backs look like?

They are scarce, but I don't think too many people try to collect them because of the size. I think the set of 10 books for around $20-30. Randy Savage has an alternate photo card-not sure if others do. That one might be worth more.

Thanks for the info. Paid about 25 for mine so not sure whether it was a deal or not but definitely glad to hear they're scarce at least. Does PSA grade them or Beckett?

I don't think any have been graded yet, but I don't see why they wouldn't be accepted.

I just picked this up on eBay for 2 bucks. It was listed as being from the 80s. Apparently it's from Korea. Has anyone seen these before or know anything about them?

Thanks
