Default Just picked up these two Andre The Giant auto's....

I am constantly checking EBAY looking for wrestling items and came across a listing for an Andre The Giant autograph from a seller with a great reputation and money back guarantee. I pulled the trigger quickly because the price was right and emailed the seller to see if they had any others and they did have one more so I purchased it too.

I got these in the mail this week and I am very pleased with them. Here are the scans.

Nice man. If I ever thought the creation of a Leaf Executive collection or whatever those man made cut 1/1s are called was warranted, this is the time.

My thoughts exactly. I was just recently telling the same thing to the guy who got me the Dusty Rhodes signed cards as he has a bunch of Andre auto's. I never expected to own any Andre autos as this purchase came out of the clear blue.

It's should be considered pretty special that the bottom autograph is dated with the year. That wasn't too long after he changed his name.

Steve explain exactly what you mean. Was he still using Roussimoff in some capacity?

If you do Leaf, make sure you can fit the whole thing in a card, doesn't quite look like it from the size.

They have some sort of encasing cut autograph thing.

He wrestled as Monster Roussimoff in Japan circa 1970.

By 1973 he was billed as Jean Ferre.

I think 1974 was the eariest date he went by Andre the Giant.

I read on WIKI that Vince McMahon Sr. gave him the name Andre The Giant in early 1973.

The story behind the signature from 1978 is it was gotten in Oklahoma after a match with Harley Race.

I think it is really so cool to think that Andre himself wrote his name on these pieces of paper and it is captured permanently. I view this as just as much a piece of American history as I do wrestling history. Andre was the highest paid athlete in the world at one point in the mid 1970's and was a household name and will always be remembered.

You're right, looks like he started in the WWWF in 1973.

He did wrestle in Canada before that as Jean Ferre .

I thought the date on the autograph was 1975

The annual card mentions Andre the Giant as well as Jean Ferre so it must have been 1973.
