Default 2001 Upper Deck Golf

I just bought a case...stuff is pretty cheap at the moment. After just now getting back into collecting I dont know what I want to do for a PC...just been buying mainly basketball and football hobby boxes so this was my first golf purchase.

What should I do with this 2001 UD case? Split it up and sell it by hobby box? I got it for $124

Only problem is I want a Tiger auto so bad Im afraid Im gonna open every pack lol

If opening bear in mind that Autos of Tigers may be expired redemption cards. I don't remember how many of Tiger, (evolve auto is one of top of my head) if any were redemptions. I am sure others have more knowledge and can hopefully weight in.

Also in my case I didn't hit a Tiger RC until box 6. Ended with 3 after the case was done.

Id be mad to get an evolve lol. The thought of an "expired" tiger auto rc makes me salty.

I cant figure out if the players ink cards are redeemables.

Probably just sell them as separate hobby boxes.

The eVolve cards still have value without being scratched off to see if you won anything, so I wouldn't worry about those at all. I'm 90% sure all Tiger AUTO's were live in that product, but check the odds on the pack; I think there was an AUTO 1 every 2000 packs or something insane, and then you had a 1 in 20 chance at getting Tiger. It sounds like you got them really cheap, so I would say have fun and rip 4-5 boxes then sell the rest as boxes. Good luck with them and have fun regardless.

The price that you paid is about the going rate for that case.

These boxes do not sell outside of full cases.

Odds for autographs were 1:2500 packs so you probably won't hit one.

There will be one jersey card in the case as they are 1:288 packs

Out of a case you will get around 8 Tiger rookies or so...

and a whole lot of fire wood. I've opened 4 cases and never hit an auto.

I can see that math might be your strong suit. There are 288 packs in this case and the odds for an autograph (any one of the 25 autographs that are inserted into this product) are 1:2500 packs. That puts it out about 1:8 cases or so.

They made almost as much of this product as they made of 1987 Topps baseball... it is not rare and never will be

The sad part is that I remember back in 2001 when the product went live paying $70 per box of this at shows. The first Tiger BGS 9.5's that I saw traded went for around $700 each.

I know that I traded a 9.5 Tiger Woods for a full sized Tony Gwynn UDA bat after the product had cooled a little bit.

Good luck - hope the autograph is not Jesper...

Lol exactly. Considering its my first golf card purchase I would be happy with the base Tiger.

If I get all hype trying to pull the baddest card in the set then the odds say Im going to be disappointed (normally the way that works I guess)

I figure I will bust one box, then stash the rest until Tiger goes into the HOF and plays on the champions tour (or gets injured and "retires"; whichever comes first?). At that point I see his stuff climbing in value again. Then I should be able to get $40+ per hobby box.

Product is pretty much garbage. I opened 5 boxes, have a complete base & Tigers Tales set...

Cards don't sell for squat. Tiger ruined it for the set...

A) Tiger's value won't rise when he goes into the HOF or plays on Champions Tour. His value will rise if he wins more majors and it likely still won't get back to his peak prices
B) There is no chance these boxes will be $40 each in our lifetime. They produced tons of this stuff. Even you overpaid for the case. You can win ebay auctions for like $60 for a case

With that said, good luck pulling your Tiger

i'm confused.. is the tiger auto that you really want from this product or 2001 SP Authentic? (i'm sure they are both valuable of course)

So i might as well open all i got then? I actually think its a cool set. I have 8 boxes left. I think im carded out for today. I needed some #mojo to keep me goin but this isnt one of those products lol. I have pretty much every tiger card that is a non auto. Except the gallery card. I would be horrified to sell a hobby box and have someone else pull it...

I would be happy with either. I figured the odds were close and i could get more of a chance with a case of ud compared to one hobby box of sp. I wasnt looking to spend much otherwise id just buy an auto

You would have had a better shot at a Tiger auto in a single box of 2001 SPA Golf -

Way better shot than a single case of 2001...

I, too, bought a case of this about a year and a half ago. I didn't hit any autos. Even worse about opening the case was all the cards were stuck together. After the 2nd box I wanted to throw the rest of the packs out the window!

Ahh back in the day I pulled a Player's Ink Tiger from 288 loose packs that I bought off of fleabay. Dang I wish I still had it.

there are also two versions of the 2001 upper deck golf I think there is a green hobby box and then a retail box which is a maroon color box. I think its harder to pull the Tiger auto out of the maroon boxes.

I've opened probably 4 cases of this stuff. I averaged 4 tiger rookies per. Got 1 auto (can't remember who) and 3 game used--Nothing exciting.

Still have 2 rack cases sitting in my closet.

An earlier poster was right: UD must have made 10,000++ cases of this stuff. It is highly unlikely to go up unless tiger either dies (hope not) or wins 5+ majors over the next couple years.

Just open it op!!!!!!!!

A case of this for $60? Wow, I'd love to find that.

I've been wanting to get into golf cards and this seemed like a logical place to start.
