Only domestic leagues? No cross-league competitions (UEFA Champions League, Europa League)?

that is implied as well, but there is no ranking for that once out of the group stage

Game 1 ended with Manu beat Spurs 1-0 thanks to a first half Kyle Walker OG. Game was very open, could have seen it go ether ways, many chances missed for both sides

The defending champions Chelsea draw Swansea 2-2 as Courtois sees red. At least they have Cech.... OH WAIT As of now i am satisfied, a win for Arsenal tomorrow, and maybe a loss/draw for the other big teams will help

here are the other results across the league...
Bournemouth 0-1 Aston Villa
Norwich City 1-3 Crystal Palace
Everton 2-2 Watford
Leicester City 4-2 Sunderland

Another season kick and its the same old garbage from Arsenal, our squad is not ready. Once again Wenger in his press conference yesterday saying that the squad was strong enough to contend last season and now we got Cech. That means absolutely nothing when all of the teams around him are going out and doing what they can to strengthen their squad. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out...

Happy to get the win today, but it was extremely unconvincing.... Arsenal came out of the gate with things to prove and ran wild for 20 minutes. After which it quickly cooled down. Aaron Ramsey, who was just free playing was then covered by a dropping back Cabeye and just disappeared. Not to take anything away from a top shelf finish from Groud, but the goal was only made possible by a Palace defensive error in a really bad area. This followed by an equalizer from the home side that just narrowly squeezed in. We took the lead back thanks to a Crystal Palace own goal after Alexis Sanchez headed down a cross that bounced off Damien Delaney's leg and into the back of the next. This team still has a lot to prove

Valencia begin their quest for UCL glory tonight and I have more money on them than I should but i'm declaring my hand now. Monaco will be no pushover though.

Fear not, loyal followers, Atletico remain my main bet. 33-1 is HUGE.

My beloved Celtic face a tricky test against Malmo, too. Would be thrilled if they made it to the group phase. I won't be backing them outright, obviously!

Valencia flattered by the 3-1, Monaco played really well.

Celtic will rue conceding in injury time. (As will Basel - 96th minute!)

Beyond disappointed with that performance. Absolute joke. Pass, pass, pass, pass, lose possession. Gave the ball away cheaply time and time again. Liverpool did as well and we did not capitalize. Nobody on our team showing urgency to take a shot. Technically we should have won as Aaron Ramsey did score but was called offside (clearly wasn't). But we did not deserve the win. Only positive was that Ozil played fantastic, someone who is always accused for disappearing in big games, but his hard performance and nothing to show for it. Alexis had one or two bright moments but was otherwise irrelevant to the game. Wenger it is time to take up. Yes Giroud is a good striker and yes we can win the league with him, but not as our only true striker of world class talent we need variety, we play the same game over and over again and teams know our style.

Forgot to mention a world class performance from Petr Cech. After questions were raised when he let two easy goals in against West Ham. We would have lost without him today, showing what a signing he has been for us

Is it just me feeling weird that FC Astana can play in an European soccer competition when:

(1) most of the country territories (that the city is located) are in Asia
(2) the city itself is closer to China than to many European cities in which other soccer clubs are located

?

Default 2015-16 UEFA Champions League group stage

Group A: Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Malmo

Group B: PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, CSKA Moscow, Wolfsburg

Group C: Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, Astana

Group D: Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla, Borussia Monchengladbach

Group E: Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, BATE Borisov

Group F: Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Olympiacos, Dinamo Zagreb

Group G: Chelsea, Porto, Dynamo Kiev, Maccabi Tel Aviv

Group H: Zenit Saint Petersburg, Valencia, Lyon, Gent

============================

Man. City seems to be in a super group/group of death again.
Group B can be tricky - easy opponents, but possible tough trip for Man. U (Moscow weather is no joke). Wolfsburg can also be like a banana peel for them if Man. U isn't careful.
Group C might contain some unknowns - while FC Astana might not be as good as other teams, their location is one of the coldest capitals in the world. Regardless of the weather, as indirectly implied in my previous post, the time zone difference alone is no joke either. I definitely feel bad for Astana though.

What a sad performance. If Arsenal keep playing like this the only way we are going to win games is due to the mistakes from the other team, which is so far how we have gotten our only two wins so far. There is no reason who should not have wiped to floor with the poor Newcastle team today. We had nearly 75 minutes with an extra man on the pitch as they got a very early red card. 6 other Newcastle players got yellows, and there should have been a penalty as well. Arsenal played with little to no urgency to get the ball into a shorting position, constantly just passing the ball around only to lose possession. Defensively we were a rock but attacking was beyond poor. Ozil was hurt and did not play today. Both Ramsey and Cazorla were irrelevant into the game. Everytime Alexis got on the ball he was closed down faster that you could think, so he did not have the freedom to come into the middle as much as he is used to. Walcott is not a natural striker and has only added to the fact, doing nothing during his time on the pitch. Really nothing to take good from this game. Our goal came from an Oxlade-Chamberlain shot that would have either went wide or easily defended but was put in for an own goal, our second of the year. On top of that one of the oldest common sense things in a football match, you never settle for a 1-0 lead, once the own goal was cored there was still nearly 30 minutes left on the clack and Arsenal almost completely dropped interest in attacking and pressing the defense. It could have taken a split second for them to equalized and we would have walked away from a game that we should have had in the bag in the first half with dropped points. Hats off to Sissoko for putting in amazing performance. Led most of Newcastle's attacks and constantly won the ball back, very surprised he still plays for Newcastle, still see him getting signed by a Champions League team before the window shuts. We are now 4 games into the season and only ONE Arsenal player has managed to put his name on the score-sheet. If that is not an obvious reason that we need to add another proven goalscorer into the mix then I do not know what is.

Right the transfer window has closed, now to move onto this thread. All in all I am outright disgusted, sickened, confused and all in all let down. Arsene Wenger and or the board, whoever had there business involved in this transfer window should be ashamed. There was absolutely no reason we should have not signed anyone other than a goalkeeper. Arsenal not only were in incomplete team last season, lost countless players over the summer, they even started the season absolutely shockingly, a side screaming for a proven goalscorer. In the first four games of the season, we managed to score one goal from our players, the two others were own goals. Arsenal have the money, Ivan said it, Arsene said it, why wasn't money spent. When you are a top club competing for the league title and possibly more such as Europe and domestic cups, and you need players, you don't sit there waiting for deals to drop onto your lap, you go out there and make bids and challenge other teams for top players, otherwise you are not going to get them, simple as that. This game is about money today, and Arsenal are more aware of that then they lead to believe. They charge their fans more for tickets then any other side in the premier league and for what? An unwillingness to splash the cash when you obviously need to in order to bring glory back to the club and happiness among your fans. Out of the top five leagues in Europe, every single team, every one of them, managed to outfield players, Arsenal are the only ones not to. Barcelona had a transfer ban this window and they managed to bring in more players. If there was no ambition to sign a striker we should have never gotten rid of Podolski, he was a proven goalscorer of world class talent and we literally let him go for change compared to asking prices of Cavani or Benzema. Alright...enough from me I feel sick enough as it is..

Giroud's goal vs Crystal Palace won the Arsenal goal of the month, and it won by a landslide. Yes it was an amazing goal, but it was the ONLY goal we scored in August

Once again a game screaming at Wenger that we need a striker. Yes Walcott scored but he should have easily had a hat trick, constantly making the runs but no composure to put the ball in the back of the net. Both Giroud and Walcott missed absolute sitters. A game that could have easily been won in the first half, wasn't closed until the 85th minute when Giroud was gifted a goal. Absolute shocking defending from Stoke, Butland and poor finishing from Arsenal was the only reason it did not get embarrassing.

Normally don't post midway through a game due to changes at a half that may change the flow if the game but that was probably the worst start to this game the we could have probably asked for. We traveled to a team that hadn't see the group stages of Champions League in almost two decades, and we go in at the half 1-0 down and down t 10 men. The way Giroud acted after his first yellow (which he only got the yellow due to his response should have shown Arsene that him and the ref were not seeing eye to eye, and what do you know a soft challenge from Giroud right before the turn of the half saw him see red. Arsenal were threatening for the first 20 minutes, but after a counter attack that saw Zagreb take the league we just absolutely deflated..

absolutely sickened to the stomach... went 2-0 down in the second half. Refs were playing for the home side, very clear. Two times Ozil was called offside when he was clearly on, one of which he put in the back of the net. Walcott came on to bring back a goal but it wasn't enough. 2-1 loss..
