WTB : Shipping Lable Printer

For lack of a better place to put this, I guess this may be the best.

I'm looking to buy a used label printer. If anyone has one that they are selling or knows somewhere that I can pick one up for a reasonable price let me know.

I'm looking for something so that I can print the sticker labels. Preferably a thermal printer so I don't use a ton of ink like I do now with PayPal shipping labels using my regular printer.

I'm aware of that, but like I said in the previous post, I don't want to use the ink anymore.

do you have an HP printer? do you seem to go through your color ink cartridge more oftern than your black?

if so, here's why. HP printers are automatically set to a default that prints black text with the color cartridge.

open a word document, choose to print. when you select which printer to use, first click properties. open the toolbox. under configuration, choose to use a single black catridge.

whenever you need to print in color, just go back to change it.

even if this doesn't help your particular situation, it should help you save on color ink.

But if you use thermal you use no ink!!

And you should save a bunch of time....that is if you can get PayPal multi-shipper to work

Let me know if you have any luck, I was researching it a while back but I still have a bunch of supplies to work through first.

I know some small offices (doctor dentists use these...you may want to ask if you see them in the office...maybe they get'em cheap )

Cancel the search, I just won a Brother P-Touch QL-500 Thermal Printer from ebay for $31+12 shipping.

Now just need to get the labels and I'm good to go

Single rolls look to be about $8 each. They have 100 stickers per roll (or the continuous type). So about .08 per.

Well Patrick you have peaked my interest. May have to get one as well...most often I print all my paypal stuff at the office . But the thermal labels are a great idea. Also can use the cost of the printer as a tax write off.

Well I got a helluva deal on a printer from a associate of mine who manages a staples. Thermal printing shipping labels is the way to go!! WooHoo

Find out if they have 2.4" continuous tape for a Brother printer for me.

The cheapest method I have found is a small laser printer (uses toner, but gets a ton of pages per cartridge) and the 8 1/2" x 11" double label sheets. I purchase(d) everything (printer, labels, toner) on eBay.

Thermal printers are nice, but usually you will end up spending more for the labels than with a inkjet or laser printer.

Its about $7-8 for a 100' roll. I figure you get nearly 200 labels out of the one roll. Plus I only paid $35 for the printer, so I think the difference in cost is negligible, and probably cheaper with the thermal, as you don't have to buy the laser printer.

The laser printer I purchased was only around $65 so that cost difference is made up with the label cost difference pretty quickly. I purchased 5,000 sheets a couple of years ago for $30 and still have about 200 left. I know the prices on these have since gone up, but not near the $0.08 per label which was stated earlier.

Anyways, I just was tossing the option out there for others that may be looking for a solution.

It gets better....Staples now is offering a $50 rebate on the thermal printer I bought

Going back tomorrow to get an adjustment and get the rebate forms.

Brother QL-570....got it for $69.99 after having $40 knocked off. So after the rebate $19.99....sweet. Will check to see if they have the rolls.

Does it work well with PayPal shipping? I just looked and they don't have it listed as one of their compatible printers...I'm guessing you just selected the QL-500??

How much did you pay for the roll you picked up when you bought it?
