I don't have much vintage but I find myself itching to buy some. I would definitely support a forum for it as I find myself hating all the inserts and relics of todays sets. Base sets, autos and RC's are what I prefer. And $4000 for prospect superfractor who's never hit a MLB curveball yet guys like Mattingly, Henderson, Thomas, Griffey and others go for peanuts??

I don't know if they will add a intake since they do not sell these items. I am working on a 1938 Goudy, 1952 bowman in a psa 7, 1953 topps in psa 5/6 (80+ complete)

This is a classic example why we need this section. Had I not read this thread, I would have no idea that a fellow member was working on great sets like this. I am currently trying to decide which vintage PSA set to start, now that I've gotten my '51 Bowman Mantle RC, so knowing that others are working on some sets as well, makes me think we could possibly be helping each other out, whether we have the card they need, or know where to find it (Ebay, card shows, LCS's, etc.)

I don't think the decision should be based solely on the fact that BO doesn't carry vintage items, I think the forum itself is more about the hobby as a whole. Just my opinion.

I've debated a few different vintage sets but my current project is completing sets back to 1972. I've gotten really close on my 82-84 sets thanks to a member here. Once those are done, I will move on to 80-81...hopefully by the end of this year.

I do have 10-12 1960 Fleer cards and I may start working on that set as well. After that, I think '66 Topps is a likely candidate because I have a bunch of those (though not necessarily in great shape) already.

And I really dont think a vintage section would take anything away from sale of 'new' product. I think vintage collectors are probably more the set builder type and really it's cheap to build modern sets compared to vintage, no reason one can't do both.

Just sold a 66 set, it is probably the least popular set besides 68. If you are taking into consideration future resale value your best bet is 61, 62, 65, or 67. They can be completed relatively cheap and you will never lose if you buy right, they can only go up.

I wonder if there could be a rule put in place that if someone posted something produced in 1986 or later they get punched in the nads by the closest BO member?

True "vintage" collectors usually don't even consider early 80's as vintage.

Haha I mean for football, 86 and under I kinda consider vintage because of the big rookies and the fact that they weren't mass produced yet. But baseball gets bad when you reach the upper 80's which makes ppl consider vintage 79 and under. Thanks for the posts everyone!
