Pat, is it possible to make it so that threads posted in the areas mentioned in the subject of this post do not show up in the "New Posts" list?

You can already do this. Just go to your options:

http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/p...do=editoptions

and way at the bottom you can specify certain forum(s) to exclude from the new posts listing.
