Pending any changes from the mod's here is out plan for dealing with the bumping of threads issue.
  • Violators will be warned the first time,
then given a 1 day suspension for the second offense
and it will be stepped above that (3 day, 5 day, 7 day, 1 month, 6 month, then lifetime).

Robert, Seems to be some questions this concerns the B/S/T/ forum only correct?

Thats up for debate right now on the private side of the forum. I kinda think it should apply to all areas. If someone needs help with something (sorry, but there is no reason for 5 or 6 bumps asking "if anyone can help" over the course of a few days...if they can, they will...that being said putting it in the right section always helps too)...same goes with group breaks. If the break is truely wanted, then it should fill and have plenty of activity without needing several bumps.

This being said, we're still trying to "define" truely what a bump is.

Thanks, The only reason I ask is now that we have the SET rule in the B/S/T forum. We seem to have a FEW "unbadged" (if that is a word) bump police that are posting nothing but, "been less than 24 hrs YOU BUMPED" on every forum
Some threads are ment to be discussions (be it funny, serious, down right clean doging each other or what ever), I for one do not concider answeres/questions in DISCUSSION threads bumps.

If only those unbadged individuals would hit the report post button..things could get done/enforced much for efficently. Would also cut down on their post counts

But as for the "bumping" infractions right now its pretty much being considered those that bump their own thread for nothing more than the sole purpose of moving it to the top in hope of getting more views.

Someones response to a thread should not count as a bump (although those that seem to be mocking the "no bump rule" may deserve some time off). Those that are posting just to say bump, etc.

The gray area is the whole start a new thread or add to your sale thread. Its not a bump, but it could easily go under the older thread. Either way it could be considered a bump post (especially if noted check the other threads for your other cards for sale). I for one dont mind a bunch of 4-5 card threads, especially if the title is well done since you know exactly whats there and dont have to dive through the thread to see whats for sale, but I think I'm in the minority on this one. Even I'll admit the search engine works really well when used.

Hi Robert...just my two cents...I agree. I think this should apply to ALL areas of the forum. That being said, I think it's obvious to see if a legitimate "response" is what bumped the thread as opposed to a "false bump".

I'm tired of the impatience shown by many members in getting a response...especially in the B/S/T threads. If someone wants your item, they'll PM or post, ya know?

so is this completely eliminating the bump, or just punishing those who bump more than once every 24 hours?

punishing those that excessivly bump. There really is no way to effectivly elliminate bumping minus an entire ban on it and I'd rather see a bump than the same person creating a new thread daily.

What about to update a group break? Something along the lines of, "Got you down, list updated." Is this permissible?

Personally, I don't see excessive bumping in the group break threads. They aren't where this is a problem and should be left alone IMO.

The only place this seems to be a problem is the BST sections and personally, I feel the mods do just fine here, thanks guys!!

In my mind these are acceptable since their post does actually serve a purpose.

"However a comon guys lets get this filled" is nothing short of a bump.

If you really want to delete something, how about b/s/t threads started by banned members. Just a thought......
