REVISED: 2010 Topps Sterling 10-box case THEME DRAFT $40/slot

THIS BREAK HAS BEEN REFORMATTED WITH THE HELP OF ESASLO:

There are quite a few different Themes for the theme boxes (listed below) so I thought I'd try doing a THEME DRAFT break. This is not unlike a TEAM draft, after all spots have been filled and paid for, the spots will be randomed to determine the draft order of the themes available.

IF multiple theme boxes from the SAME THEME are pulled, the spot holder with that theme will only get 1 box. The other box(es) will be put into the random pool with the mystery packs to get randomed amongst members not receiving a box.

Mystery Packs will be saved and randomed off amongst all members not receiving a theme box after all boxes have been opened. Each member not receiving a theme box may only receive ONE Mystery pack.


other rules/info:

1)Draft will be conducted live on Ustream.tv at ~5:30 PM PST on a date TBD

2)Draft picks for each category must be made within a timely manner but will not be time constricted until 24hrs before live break at which point each member will have 20minutes to make their pick before they are auto-selected into a theme based on the best-odds theme available.

3)The random will be conducted live on Ustream.tv using random.org ASAP after payments are received.

4)The winner of each theme box will have the option of having it sent to them SEALED or opened by me LIVE on ustreamtv. If the member with that theme is not present to make this decision, the box will be opened by default.

Pricing: REDUCED 10 box-case price (as of 1/7/11) $11850/50 spots = $37
Paypal fees = $1.41

Total = $38.41 for ea slot


NOTE: Shipping fees will be assessed to those who end up with a Theme box or a Mystery pack. These fees will be determined after the break (somewhere around $6 theme box winners and $3 for mystery pack winners).

I tried this last year with an uber low cost of like $18 a slot and people jumped down my throat because not everyone would get something.

LOL, ridiculous. Thats why I tried the triple draft w/ adjusted groups + mystery pack random for those that go hitless, random but it doesn't seem to have any appeal

I guess I just don't understand what you were doing here. I don't get the draft section. If we were paying for our slot, and got to KEEP the boxes in the slot (i.e., not open them -- or open them if we wanted) I'd be in on this. Based on your model for pricing, that's where I thought were going... but now I'm confused!

Yeah I thought about doing that, but people always complain about the chance of getting nothing. So I decided to split up the themes into "groups" so as to increase the odds for the more uncommon themes and allow for a three separate drafts (one for hit 1, one for hit 2, and one for the base in each theme box) to account for variance/ keep a handful of people from getting everything in the break. Then I decided to use the mystery packs as an insurance policy for those that did not receive any hits with either of their first 2 group picks to help ensure that everyone got "something".


I could just as easily make this a theme draft in which you get to keep your own box and make it more of a gamble for participants, but then everyone would need to realize that at least 23 people would not get anything. I could also split up the groups and just keep each theme separate, lowering the price per slot, but again a good amount of people would receive nothing and that seems to irk people interested in group breaks here (even though its frequently the case anyways with all the hit or miss products out there).

It's possible, but unlikely. And yes, then the slot holder would get multiple boxes; however, if the OP agrees, I'd be willing to say random every theme box beyond the first in a slot an individual gets.

Fitch, it's only a few dollars, but go ahead and adjust the price on this (case-wise) to 1850. I think I can swing that with BO, or via the case I have sitting here sealed because I'm too scared to open it, hahaha.

Either way, might help even though it's only $1.85 a slot (PP fee adjusted).

I'd love to get this filled! Might be worth PMing some of the people on the higher end baseball team breaks!
