6/27 return #7/10

Christian Bergman c/o Tulsa Drillers in 13 days

Great success from the Rockies' 2010 draftee out of UC Irvine. He has been an innings eater and a ground ball machine this year, crafting a 3.02 ERA through 92.1 IP.

6/27 return #10/10 (the other 9 returns are posted before!)

Michael Bowden c/o Iowa Cubs in 16 days

Awesome, personalized success from the 6 year MLB veteran. He was solid over 14 appearances with the Cubs, yet has been sent down to AAA Iowa where he has been a strikeout machine (20 Ks over 13.2 IP).

Love seeing all of the prospect successes, once you get through all the big leaguers who sign prospects are easily the way to go. Most will sign since they don't have the major league attention yet, especially in person a top young arm like Noah Syndergaard stopped and signed 3 cards for me, if a major leaguer stopped to sign very rarely would they sign multiples. Prospects are great signers, love the recent successes and new ideas for future send outs!

Thanks! I totally agree, prospects are just the best when it comes to TTM/IP autos.

Been a crazily sporadic week for returns:
Monday: 13 returns
Tuesday: 0 returns
Wednesday: 4 returns
Thursday: 10 returns
Friday: 3 returns
Anyway, on to today's three returns!!

--------------

Michael Earley c/o Birmingham Barons PO Box in 13 days

Very nice return from the White Sox' OF who has hit near or above .300 in each of his MiLB seasons so far.

Michael Taylor c/o Potomac Nationals PO Box in 11 days

Great success from the Nats' no. 5 prospect. Beautiful auto as well!

Gregory Polanco c/o Altoona Curve in 11 days

Awesome success from one of the Pirates' best prospects. I sent to him a day before he was promoted to AA Altoona, so I re-sent to the Altoona address and got this back! He smacked 16 HRs last year with a .325 avg and 40 SBs. This year he hit .316 in Bradenton with 6 HRs and 24 SBs to earn a promotion to the Altoona Curve!

Thanks and good luck! They both seem to be great signers.

------------

I still have about 50+ TTMs from October 2012 through Spring Training 2013, I try to start posting them now in spurts. Starting with the Gypsy Queens:

Clayton Kershaw

Doug Fister

Dustin Ackley

Nice stuff. I sent to Kershaw on February 24th and sent to Ackley March 18th (to Safeco Field), so maybe I'll be getting them back soon

Good luck!! Both of those guys take their time but when they do sign it comes out great! I did get these back in ST, you may have to wait a little longer for yours

6 more returns today!!!

--------------

AJ Kirby-Jones c/o San Antonio Missions in 18 days

Kirby-Jones was dealt from the A's to the Padres after the 2012 ended, part of a lower-end 4 player trade that included Tyson Ross and Andrew Werner. He has been solid so far this year in AA.

Jose Peraza c/o Rome Braves in 12 days

Peraza entered last season as an 18 year old and had a busy year, splitting his time between the GCL Braves and Danville Braves. In 53 total games, he hit .296 while swiping an impressive 25 bags. He was ranked the Braves' #20 prospect entering this season and is on pace to double his SB count from last year, having already swiped 26.

Robert Benincasa c/o Hagerstown Suns in 16 days

Great return from the Nats' relief prospect who racked up 10 saves this year with Hagerstown to earn a promotion to A+ Potomac. In his 46.1 IP in the minors so far, Benincasa has punched out an incredible 66 batters!

Max White c/o Asheville Tourists in 16 days

Awesome return from the Rockies' 2nd round pick last year (73rd overall). He opened his pro career last season at short-season Grand Junction and has moved on to class A Asheville this year.

Aaron Brooks c/o NW Arkansas Naturals in 16 days

My third 16 day return of the day! Brooks was drafted by the Royals' in the 9th round of 2011 out of Cal State San Bernardino. He earned himself a AA Texas League promotion after 10 solid starts with A+ Wilmington to open the 2013 season.

Stefen Romero c/o Tacoma Rainers in 14 days

Romero had a breakout year in 2012, hitting .352 over two levels and bashing 23 HRs. This year, he shot up to AAA where he has been solid, and could serve as a 4th or 5th OF for the Mariners.

Just curious, I've had a few gypsy queens come back with a beat up corner, do you do anything to keep them in good shape? Thanks!

Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do to prevent USPS damages. Sending in a penny sleeve is too risky because some of the players will sign right on the sleeve (yikes). I use security envelopes for my SASE's, which are relatively thick and provide support for the card. Hope this helps! You can always send 2 cards to the players (although most major leaguers will only sign 1) as insurance.

I've noticed cards get less damaged when more than one are sent! I love how autographs come out on the '12 gypsy queens, it's just a shame when they come back with a dinged up corner. Might try sticking index cards in the SASE and see if that helps, congrats with your recent successes!

People have always told me not to send in penny sleeves, but I've never had a problem with it. I did it for all of my ST ttms and most people either kept the sleeve or put it in like upside down in the sleeve (David Robertson of the Yankees, hahaha). I don't do it now of course, too many people just keep/don't return the sleeves to even make it worthwhile.

That's interesting, I would have guessed that more players would sign right on the sleeve

----------

Why not post some more offseason successes on this fine Sunday? All gypsy queen for now, I have about 50 non GQs to post later haha

Jordan Zimmermann

Lonnie Chisenhall

Jose Valverde

I prefer A+G to Gypsy personally but here's some of my best Spring Training IP + TTM from this year, my favourite a+gs and gypsys

Somewhere I know I also have a Gypsy of nelson cruz and I have two 2011 gypsy queens of Josh Hamilton and Mat Latos.

From L to R, top to bottom:
Kyuji Fujikawa (japanese card)
Yu Darvish (Japanese card)
Hisashi Iwakuma (Japanese card
Elvis Andrus (Gypsy)
Neftali Feliz (A+G)
Hunter Pence (Gypsy)
Josh Johnson (A+G ttm)
David Robertson (Gypsy ttm)
Wade Miley (topps ttm)

4 returns today:

Ronald Guzman c/o Hickory Crawdads in 14 days

Awesome success from the 18 year old Rangers prospect. He fits the frame of a MLB first baseman (6'5, 205 lb) and is hitting .309 with 2 HRs through his first 22 games in single A.

Rob Scahill c/o Rockies in 17 days

Nice return from the Rockies' reliever. I asked him how he handles pitching in Coors field, and he says he tries to keep the ball down in the zone to limit fly balls. Sounds like a sound strategy to me!

Danny Santana c/o New Britain Rock Cats in 16 days

Nice success from the Twins' SS prospect. He is hitting .284 this year in AA and could be a good alternative for the struggling Florimon.

Matt Wisler c/o San Antonio Missions in 14 days

Really pumped about this success. Still just 20 years old, Wisler earned a promotion to AA this year after crafting a 2.06 ERA through 6 starts at high A (in the hitter-friendly Cal League).

Today's lone return:

Kyle Hendricks c/o Tennessee Smokies in 18 days

Awesome return from the Dartmouth product and one of the Rangers' best pitching prospects. Hendricks burst on the scene last year with Myrtle Beach, logging a 2.82 ERA over 130.2 IP. This year with AA Tennessee, he has managed to top last year's performance, going 8-2 with a 2.06 ERA over 96.1 IP.

Five returns today!

----------------

Chris Resop c/o Sacramento River Cats in 7 days

Nice return from the MLB vet who is currently playing for the A's AAA affiliate.

Joe Bircher c/o Quad Cities River Bandits in 20 days

Nice success from the Astros' 10th round pick last year, who is currently rehabbing with the GCL Astros.

Lucas Luetge c/o Tacoma Rainers in 9 days

Great looking auto from the M's reliever who has split his 33 appearances this season between AAA and Seattle. Last year, he was the fourth of six pitchers to appear in the Mariners' combined no-hitter.

Paul Blackburn c/o AZL Cubs in 26 days

The envelope was stamped from Boise, so Blackburn's mail must have been forwarded to him once he was promoted from the AZL Cubs. He was a first round pick last year by the Cubs out of High School, and has been stellar in his 18 innings pitched so far this year, striking out 20 on his way to a 1.00 ERA.

Cole Gillespie c/o Fresno Grizzlies in 9 days

Last offseason, the Giants traded Conor Gillaspie to the White Sox and acquired Cole Gillespie! He has been very good in AAA this year, hitting .284 with 9 HRs, and could be a 4th or 5th OF for the Giants in the near future.
