Yeah, we got Alonso while he was in AA on a card and baseball. He was not happy about signing then either. If I have a chance to get Chapman again, I am going to try a baseball...I saw him sign one ball and he seemed to take his time signing the baseball, while he walked and signed everything else. I will post some pics of the items tomorrow. I am tired and sunburned right now!

Today brought my first TTM success in a few days...Phil Nevin signed 3/3 in blue sharpie. I have now sent out over 50 from my new home...so hopefully they will start rolling in!! This was the first I sent out from this address! On a side note, I am going to the Indianapolis Indians game tomorrow to get some more in person graphs!!

I am learning very fast that the AAA players have much more attitude and are in general much more difficult than AA and lower minor league teams. The wife and I went to see the Toledo Mud Hens take on the Indianapolis Indians this evening. Got to the stadium 2 minutes before gates opened. I got a nice spot by the Mudhens dugout as they were still taking some BP. The wife went to the Indians side to try to get them as they came back out. As the players were coming in I got Robinson Diaz and Andy Dirks to sign my ticket (I didn't have any cards of them). One of my main targets Leon Durham is the batting coach...he told me he would get me when he came back out. As the players came out later it was slim pickens! Here are the goods:

Leon Durham 2/2
Larry Parrish (former major leaguer and head coach) 2/2
Scott Sizemore- blew us all off
Andrew Oliver- total jackass....blew everyone off (more on him later)
Cale Iorg- blew everyone off
Robbie Weinhardt- blew evryone off

The wife had some better luck on the Indians side:

Brian Friday 2/2
Akinori Iwamura 2/2
Brian Myrow 1/1
Brandon Moss 1/1
Kevin Melillo 1/1
Dean Treanor 1/1
Doug Bernier 1/1
Jonathan Van Every-blew everyone off...I heard lots of stories about him being a jerk

Because of our poor success pregame, we stayed postgame for Toledo:

Charlie Furbush 1/1 (as he was leaving the bullpen for the dugout)
Fu-Te Ni 2/2 (He signed 1 card for each of us as he left the facility)
Scott Sizemore 2/3 (Signed 1 per)
Cale Iorg 1/1
Leon Durham 0/2 (snuck out while we were getting Sizemore)
Robbie Weinhardt 0/4...we missed him or didn't recognize him
Andrew Oliver- 0/2...another grapher called out his name as he left the facility and he literally took off running away up a hill. I don't think I have ever seen a player actually run away from a few people wanting their autographs. I have heard he is generally a prick, so I guess I should not be surprised!

We ended up getting 19 autographs...and worked hard to get those.

How well do the sigs take to the Donruss Elite? Do you do any prepping to them? I've been thinking about sending some out, but I never know!

They are actually some of my favorite cards to get signed. They generally look great...I can't think of any cases where I had an issue with their gloss hurting an autograph, but I do prep them with a dry erase marker. Good luck!

Today brought in Todd Frazier TTM...he signed 2/2. I sent these off before I realized I was going to see him in person. I think I have about 6-7 of his cards signed now.

That's cool. I am sure he would be easy to get if you catch him out and about. Good luck and get an 8x10 for me!

Hang in there they will come. I went through a few droughts were nothing came for a week. I just sent out about 75 requests in the last 2 weeks, so some of those are starting to come in! Hopefully your mailbox will have some good news for you tomorrow!

Today brought 2 TTM successes...

Tony Sanchez signed 1/1 in blue sharpie

Kyle Bellamy signed 1/1 in black sharpie

My wife and sister went with me to perhaps my last baseball game this season. Lousiville Bats (Reds) vs. Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh) AAA game. Most of the top prospects for the Reds have been called up...and I didn't have a ton of needs, so we only did pregame in the stadium...

Zack Cozart 4/4 (2 from me and 2 from the wife)
Devin Mesoraco 1/1 (last card I had of him)
Todd Frazier 1/1 (last card I had of him)
Eric Eymann 1/1
Kristopher Negron 1/1
Matt Klinker 1/1 ...nice guy
Joe Krebs 1/1
Ted Power 2/2 (1 from me, 1 from wife)...he is very moody

All autographs obtained on cards.

All in all I had some good results from my in person autographing this baseball season. Ended up getting many Starlin Castros, Brett Jacksons, Josh Vitters, Eric Hosmer, Julio Teheran, Mike Stanton, Lambo, a Chapman and Juan Francisco...and many more. However, I think I am ready for a break until next season...
