I'm glad to hear Dunston signs. I'm a huge Cubs fan, so I definately want to send him a few cards. Man, I would have hated to play first base while he was playing. That dude had a cannon for an arm.

I think Dunston has always been a great signer TTM. I got him when he was playing when I was a kid...I still have the card I sent him many years ago, but it was slightly faded, so I thought I would give it another shot. His auto is still very similar. And yeah...he had a canon for an arm...and was not always the most accurate thrower! I have several other Cub players I have written to, so hopefully they will be in soon.

Another good day today...

Edinson Volquez signed 2/2 with a black sharpie 15 days.

and from the non-sports celebs...

Leslie Nielsen (from Airplane, Naked Guns, etc.) signed and personalized "luck and laughs" 2 5x7 pictures I sent him...however, for some reason he signed it with ball point pen? Ahhh well, I am still happy to get these. 20 days time.

As always, your success updates are always inspiring. Gives us hope too! LOL, looks like I'll be busy looking for cards and pics to send out. Gotta get busy with the pen and write those letters too.

hoosier, do you type and print your letters or do you handwrite them? So far for th 5 requests I've sent out, I've handwritten them, so we'll see if I get any of them back.

Thanks!
Ram

Yes, I typically hand write my letters. I thought about typing them out...but I always felt that it would look like a form letter, whereas handwritten takes a little more time and seems more personal, so I thought it might give me a better chance. Good luck!

How long are your letters? I just have an index card with 1-3 sentences on it. All successes so far other than price lists!

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'll throw my two cents in. I was actually wondering about how other people wrote myself. I type all of my requests and envelopes. My requests are usually 3/4 of a page to 1 page. I tailor all my letters to the individual so it doesn't look like a form letter. I'm at a 50% success rate right now.

I buy those 6x9 writing tablets. I generally write about 3/4 to one full front side of those. I don't typically go into lots of details. I know some people prefer to type...and I am sure they are easier to read...especially with my handwriting, but I have always gone with the hand written notes instead. I am not sure if one way brings better results...I am sending out about 50-75 requests this week, so we shall see how it goes!

I send all mine in typed, and I have noticed that guys that sign 100% of things havent sent mine back. I basically typed out a generic letter to most of the guys, put their name at the top, and signed it. I only get about 20 minutes a night to take care of all my internet/cards/TTM stuff and its wife time. I have to stay off while its baseball season because I am at practice for 4 hours a night...

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest hand writing all of your letters. Yeah it takes a lot longer, but its so much more respectful, and personal. I try to send out the ones I really want with a handwritten letter, or make note that my handwriting isnt good on the typed memo.

Good luck guys, I love the success this board has had lately!

I finally scanned some of my successes to my computer.

These three Sandberg's autos were obtained in person last summer.
