Default what happens when the PO raises rates?

back at the end of 2006 start of 2007 I sent out a whole load of TTM requests. I ended up only receiving one back of Dave Thomas then of the Patriots. In the meantime the PO had changed the postage rate which was going in effect a few months or so later (I want to say May). This was before the forever stamps were made too. I'm sure this has happened to a lot of you out there, so is it possible to actually receive return ones after the rate change or will they go back to the players/teams and then just get tossed for insufficient postage? I have heard the stories and have read about TTM requests showing up years later but this was way before all the rate hikes we have had in the past few years. Just wondering. I don't expect to actually receive anything else back and just toss it out as a loss of stamps and time.

Typically for the first few days they may let things go, but if someone drops it off, its either going to be returned to the sender (in your case the player), or there is a chance they'll forward it onto the recipient marked postage due.

As long as you put your return address, and not the player's return address, you'll be all set.

You'll be ok for a while anyways, the USPS is not raising first class mail rates this year.

yeah, if you use a SASE, you'll be fine. You'll just have postage due.

Thanks for all the info. It has been nearly 3 years so I'm going to guess that nothing else is coming my way. I bet most of the guys I sent cards to aren't even in the league anymore! Go NFL Class of 2006!

you'd be surprised. My longest wait was 3.5 years, so nothing is ever out of the question. There was also an ESPN article about a former MLB player (can't think of his name though) who started signing his fan mail last year dating back to 1987. Sad, huh? How many of the people who wrote to him 23 years ago still live in the same house.....

I think it was Dale Davis, or another Pacer player who sent me my cards back signed about 4 years after I sent them. Luckily, it was sent to my parents address and I got the cards back!

I just got a Nomar auto to my parents house a few weeks ago. I haven't lived there since 2003. He added postage [well, someone did for him I would guess]

I have also gotten back several autos from many MiLB and MLB players who added extra postage after the stamps went up from 42 to 44 cents.
