Here are all my results in the past 3 years TTM. All hockey. I like to do the O-Pee-Chee cards because they hold an autograph the best and have a huge assortment of players. I have recently gone with the Heroes and Prospects cards to get some of the younger guys in the OHL, AHL, WHL, and the QMJHL. With these cards, however, I had to take an eraser to the glossy front of the card so it can hold a sig. I have gotten about 80 to 85% of the cards I sent out. I only do one card, a nice and courteous note, and a self addressed stamped envelope. I always send a card in a toploader for protection through the mail. My comprehensive list is:
07/08 O Pee Chee Marquee Rookies Drew Miller Ryan Carter Jonas Hiller Kent Huskins David Krejci Milan Lucic Tyler Weiman Kris Russell Curtis Glencross Chris Conner Sam Gagner Sebastien Bisaillon James Sheppard Kyle Chipchura Daniel Winnik Mark Mancari Jannik Hansen Base Dustin Penner Aaron Ward Zdeno Chara Kristian Huselius Cam Ward Eric Staal Duncan Keith Patrick Sharp Marek Svatos Jordan Leopold Milan Hejduk Rick Nash Mike Modano Mike Ribeiro Henrik Zetterberg Pavel Datsyuk Johan Franzen Jean-Francois Jacques Olli Jokinen Rostislav Olesz Tomas Vokoun Jay Bouwmeester Patrick O'Sullivan Anze Kopitar Niklas Backstrom Brent Burns Mark Streit Dan Hamhuis Mike Fisher Jordan Staal Milan Michalek Christian Ehrhoff Joe Pavelski Marcel Goc Ryan Clowe Manny Legacy Martin St. Louis Bryan McCabe Alexei Ponikarovsky Nikolai Antropov Tomas Kaberle Ryan Kesler Alexandre Burrows Daniel Sedin Daniel Briere Maxim Afinogenov Thomas Vanek Wojtek Wolski 08/09 O Pee Chee Marquee Rookies Mike Brown Chris Minard Matt D'Agostini Corey Locke Teddy Purcell Justin Abdelkader Mattias Ritola Steve Mason Cody McLeod Niklas Hjalmarsson Pascal Pelletier Andrew Ebbett Nathan Oystrick Patrick Dwyer Nikita Filatov Ryan Jones Patrick Davis Ben Bishop TJ Oshie Base Kamil Kreps Braydon Coburn Craig Anderson Matt Stajan John-Michael Liles Mattias Ohlund Martin Biron Brian Campbell Kris Versteeg Ben Maxwell 08/09 O Pee Chee Marquee Rookies Tim Wallace Riku Helenius Mike Santorelli Michal Neuvirth Matt Hendricks Jesse Joensuu Cal O'Reilly Ivan Vishnevskiy Ben Lovejoy Alexander Sulzer Base Anton Stralman Jonathan Toews Jiri Tlusty Brendan Mikkelson Ryan Smyth Fabian Brunnstrom Dan Boyle Drew Doughty Trevor Smith Brandon Sutter Todd White Vladimir Mihalik Tuomo Ruutu Jack Skille Rich Peverley Marco Sturm Patric Hornqvist Valtteri Filppula RJ Umberger David Booth 08/09 ITG Heroes and Prospects Jamie Arniel Nick Ross Francois Bouchard Stefan Chaput Mark Dekanich Viatcheslav Voynov Evgeny Grachev 09/10 ITG Heroes and Prospects Bobby Sanguinetti Justin Azevedo Matt Beaudoin Jonathan Bernier Zack Smith Cosy Franson Mikko Lehtonen Andrei Loktionov Jonathon Blum Viktor Stalberg Thomas Hickey Tyler Ennis Lars Eller Jared Cowen Ryan Ellis Matthew Hackett Tyler Seguin Taylor Beck Ryan Spooner Joey Hishon Taylor Hall Brandon Gormley Nicolas Deschamps Marco Scandella Kirill Kabanov Olivier Roy Nicolas Deslauriers Chris Doyle Kelsey Tessier Quinton Howden Calvin Pickard Stanislav Galiev Alexander Burmistrov Thats all for my hockey collection so far. I have found that hockey players sign the most and usually always get a response back. I have a small baseball and very little football collection, however I dont send to many out for these because I find I dont get as close to as much responses as I do from hockey players. Best response- Mike Ribeiro (Send back a letter thanking more for following him and his team and gracious for the autograph request). Also, Steve Mason and Mark Streit made personalizations. Never heard from- I dont ever bother sending any to Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin.....but Kovalchuk, Lecavalier, P. Kane, Stamkos are some I sent a couple times and never received. I have noticed that the Devils, Capitals, and Coyotes dont sign by mail...I have yet to receive one from any players on these teams. The Flyers sometimes will send back pre-printed signed photos instead. I will have these all up on photobucket soon so you get a glimpse of them if you'd like. |

Thanks for the info! My son and I have a few of these on the go - we have found that the Montreal Canadiens players, even retired ones, are awesome about signing! Our M.O. has been to buy cheapo cards of retired players who are working in front offices of current teams and sending to the team; the return rate on these has been >40%. Current players not so much, we've found. It was a great way to get my son motivated to do some writing - I'll try to post our list when work slows down a bit in a couple of months.

I was going to start writing to former players in certain teams front offices but I didnt think that it would be that successful. Greater than 40% isnt too bad though. I have found that the success rate to the Canadian teams (I'm from Connecticut, USA) is a little better but it costs me $1.50 to send these cards (75 cents to and from). So I dont send too many there because of the costs. Yeah, I'd be interested to see your list!
