Default Examples of Letters Sent

Anyone have an example(s) of what type of letter you send when you are requesting a celebrity/sports figure’s auto? I am thinking about signing up on Startiger to start a TTM collection for my son who is due to be born in June/July. Thanks.

I do the same thing. With every request, I include two cards; one for me and one for my 3 year old son. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason as to what to write. Just put that you admire what they do, say some kind words, and close by asking if they could find time to sign your item for you. Say thanks, and end it. Just remember that briefer is probably better than a full page note. They are busy and the shorter the better.

Just remember to include a SASE, and send it off.

All of my letters are extremely short, with the exception of some letters sent to members of the 2004 WS Champion Red Sox that I tend to put a little more effort [and thank yous] in, as I am still working on getting that whole set signed. Generally it looks like this:

Dear Mr. ____________,

I am big fan of yours, and an avid autograph collector. If you could please sign these cards for my personal collection I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time, and good luck in 20xx.

Sincerely,
Mike

Short and to the point. Occassionally I will ask for them to inscribe something [WS Champs, CY, ROY, HOF, etc] and generally it works with the players no longer playing.

I go into a little more detail on mine. I try to make it really short and to the point with something personal added in. "I seen you live" "I'm a huge Ducks fan" "I am a huge fan of your career especially when you played for......" "Thank you for serving our country in the ________ branch of the military" Just something really short and slightly personal. Just my .02

Hey there and welcome to world of TTM! I am also new at this and just started in March.

I do a mix of what everyone has said so far. I try to put a little more into it and it depends who I'm sending it to. Most athletes/celebrities will appreciate it if you put in a few kind words of appreciate too.

Good luck!

Is it better to type the letter or hand write it?

handwrite always is better. But most of the guys will sign either way... the ones you want for sure, you should handwrite.. it adds a little more sincerity to the TTM good luck. I am new as of March as well...
