Default SportsAutoFreak TTM/IP Success Thread

Hello everyone. Good to be here. First post on this site. Some of you from SportsCardForum may know me as The Grapher.

This is for all in-person and mail successes, with three successes today and one failure, up to 71 successes on the year.

#1 Steve Korcheck signed my 1958 topps and also the index card I included. I'm thankful for the latter item since I bought the 1958 card in terrible condition. Very appreciative of it.

#2 Stan Williams personalized and signed my 1962 topps, as well as a 1962 topps card for the 1961 NL Strikeout Leaders with him, Koufax, Drysdale and Jim O'Toole on it. Williams did not personalize the strikeout leaders and this is the third success I've ever had with him. Back in like 2006/2007 he personalized a 1972 topps. Not too long after he also personalized a 1961 and 1965 topps for me, too. The two cards he signed for me this time are now the 55th and 56th cards I have signed in the 1962 set.

#3 John Tsitouris signed my 1965 topps and also it seems tried signing the penny sleeve. I guess he must not have known or was unaware of the sleeve. Nonetheless, he did sign the card. I got Lou Skizas back last week on a 1958 topps and the two were once included in a blockbuster trade and both are Greek Americans. Tsitouris is the 52nd 1965 topps card I have signed. I've never officially seriously pursued the 1962 or 1965 set, but those are two all time favorites of mine along with the 1952, 1953 and 1954 sets.

#4 Finally, a failure from Dick Nen, father of Robb. He sent my 1964 topps Dodgers Rookie Stars card unsigned. Disappointing, sure, but hard to complain after getting three successes and also everyone else I have in my collection.

Thank You all for reading and I look very forward to being a part of this community.

One success in today.

He was the first ever starting Quarterback for the Saints. Nice to have this one.

Nice success! Do you collect certified autographs or just TTM?

Some certified I have but don't collect. Most TTM and IP. Thanks for the kind words.

Both the '62 and '65 sets are awesome. You should think about picking one and trying to do some damage on that checklist. I'd be real interested to see what you could do...

Congrats on the nice updates, and welcome to BO!

Thank You very much. I am honored to be here. It depends on what your definition of damage is. I have 56 from the 1962 set and 52 from the 1965.

Just at games/shows/conventions. I don't do the hotel/bus scene at all and would be awful recognizing players.

Interesting. What games/teams do you attend?

I mean just trying to make a dent in that completion percentage. You are almost 10% in without really trying to complete either one. What could you do on a '65 set when you really concentrated on it?

Do you have scans of either set from what you have completed already? That would be great to see!

I can't imagine trying to get a vintage set signed. Wow...

It would take a lot of time, but would love to show you something in the next few days, sure. I can post them in here and I have a 1965 request going out Monday.

One thing in today, the streak lives.

SportsAutoFreak TTM/IP Success Thread-imag0747_burst003_1.jpg

First Washington State alum to play in a Super Bowl, Super Bowl III. The photo he sent himself, which was extremely kind and generous. On the back, he wrote in blue, "Detroit Lions, ROY 1960, MVP 1962 Lions." In addition, he signed my letter, personalized with best wishes and his #89. Thank You so much Mr. Cogdill.

Three more requests I sent out today.

Cubs and Blackhawks, usually. Mostly Cubs. Sometimes White Sox.

Sorry, didn't see this until just now.

It's certainly not an effort to get my post count up. Thanks for the welcome. I'm legitimately excited for people when they get successes and just am very passionate about the hobby. That's all.

I might as well post some of my 1962 and 1965 successes. This is from the current album I am working on and this is not my complete list of 1962 and 1965 signed cards, nor did I include all of the ones in my current album. Some are personalized, which I chose to leave out.

Thank You for looking. Edit: I guess it's hard to attach everything at once. So I cut out most of them. More to come in the future.

Perhaps the supposed Tuesday jinx does exist. Nothing for me today and the streak ends. I can't complain. It was a wonderful ride, got back some nice returns and I knew it was bound to happen. There's always tomorrow.

Nonetheless, I like sharing with all of you, so I'll give you some more uploads of my vintage stuff to look at.

Nothing new again today. So, I'll share more vintage returns.

Let's see if the drought ends tomorrow. I think I'll write a request and drop it off at my post office.

Take care.

After being in a drought for two days, I got a success. Sorry about the bad picture quality.

Don't do a lot of basketball, but it was great to get a success from the former Tar Heel and all time leading scorer for the Suns. Thank You, Mr. Davis.

Wow! Now that's a bold signature! Love it when they inscribe numbers and such, too! Nice way to break a mini-drought!

Yes, thanks for showing those off! The '62 and '65 sets are so iconic (a lot of the sets from that era are). I can't believe you've got so many great autos from that set, I'm very jealous. I'd love to start a project like that, but... Wow. The time and commitment would be insane.

Keep showing those off, maybe they'll inspire me to give one a go someday...

Thank a lot and you're welcome. Don't worry, I'll keep posting them on the days I don't get a success. You'd be surprised and there's no need to get jealous. I don't think the time and commitment is that insane. In context, I'm still working on a set I began on in October 2006.

I'll be sure to keep showing them. I'll send you a PM shortly.

Received the last of my Sportlots purchase today and also got a personalized 1970 Topps from Gino Cappelletti, which I prefer not to show the scan.

However, I'll gladly show this success, coming back from Canada.

Friday has been my day for mail for like the past month. Not counting 4th of July, I have gotten at least one success every Friday since June 6th. Thanks for reading, everyone.
