Default Matesamo & Son TTM getting started thread

Hey everyone,

I remember sending away cards as a kid and seeing this forum brought back some great memories like a hand written letter from Aaron Sele when he was in AA or the autographed ball Don Baylor sent back to me.

My son and I have been doing box breaks on YouTube for a while and I thought it would be a cool thing to do with him to track the TTM attempts in the videos and open any returned items on video.

Since I haven't done this is a decade or two I would like a little help in getting started. I am an Indians fan and Lucas is a Red Sox fan so I would like to focus on those two teams but really, any autographs from anyone would be cool.

I have recent cards for current players as well as a box or two from the 80's and 90's for older players. We don't need any big name hard to get players but any sure signers would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help. Looking at the other threads has given me a few ideas for who to send cards to but any advice would be wonderful. I will keep you updated in this thread with any success that we find.

-Matt

In terms of Red Sox, I've seen returns for RP Craig Breslow, Manager John Farrell, and Brock Holt!
For the Indians, Lonnie Chisenhall and Bryan Shaw sign. Not sure about any retired players
Hope that helps and good luck!

Wade Boggs signs TTM a lot. I think most folks include a small donation? Should be pretty easy to dig up, but if you need help let me know.

Yeah, you have a lot of older players. There is also the 2014 ultimate list that you could use.

Isler, Maria Gabriela

I'll second the Wade Boggs suggestion and also add Bobby Doerr, Jim Bunning and Al Kaline to the list. I sent to Boggs with a small donation (under $10) and Doerr and Bunning without any sort of donation and got back a ROMLB from each with their HOF inscription.

Al Kaline is another great signer. I don't think he signs balls or anything big TTM but he's signed a couple cards for me for $5 apiece, which is a steal for such a great player.

Well, we got our first card back and it is pretty sweet! The Topps 75th buyback cards prove useful for once, lol.

That looks very good. Not a big fan of the 1975 set, but it's a sweet looking signature for sure.

A nice mail day yesteday with four new TTM cards returned.

Ted returned the card but kept the top loader.

My wife thought he was very handsome. Just saying.

Chris sent a bonus customn card of himself as well. Very cool.

This one was smudged but he included a hand written note that he would send a replacement. I don't expect him to remember but it was an awfully nice gesture. I learned a good leasson about sending high gloss cards for signatures.

We opened them on camera before we broke open a box of 1992 Upper Deck, the video will be uploaded by the weekend.

My wife is actually jealous of the fun we get when these cards come back. I think she may start helping us send more out.

Nice pickups. I haven't been doing a lot of ttm this baseball season because I have been graphing ip. I will start again with retired players who aren't currently working in baseball.

Awesome successes! And, regarding glossy cards, you can easily use them for TTMs. You can rub them down with a little bit of baby powder (or even just your fingertip...the oils in your finger will neutralize the gloss enough to make Sharpie work), or you can get a white Hi-Polymer eraser and "erase" the gloss. Keep up the great work!
