Finished repackaging, saved a stamp in the process; the 5 envelopes weigh 2.5 oz, the toploaders weigh 2 oz. Think I learned a lesson today

I agree with all above. Something I learned quick was to not include toploader. Few reasons....
1.Card comes out of toploader and can easily be bent
2. Mail roller can jam, or bend your card in rolling.
3. Athletes put the wet ink'd auto back in the toploader smearing the autograph.

had 1 damaged card in a PWE with no protection
Had several damaged in toploaders

I had one to Jeff Reardon where he wrote 1987 World Series Champs on the toploader, but then one to Koji Uehara where he signed the sleeve

Probably could get him too, think he still lives in Bloomington; but don't have any cards of him. Kinda was disappointing looking for cards of the Twins Gagne, found 3 in a box of 500 Twins, and 2 were damaged

I wouldn't complain if it got signed eventually but I still wonder what happens with players' mail. It seems they just let it build and build (but DO store it somewhere) and get around to it when they can.

That is, for the ones that actually sign.
