3 IP successes in the last week:
Jesse Crain, signing at Lunds a week ago Carl Pavano at Sports Authority on Friday. Waited 1 1/2 hours, one of the last ten people, they cut off the line because he had to get to a meeting Twins game today, bat giveaway, just missed Mijares and Guerrier, but got Pavano again |
Sent 2 cards to Herschel Walker on Saturday, no successes back yet
|
Still nothing back, was hoping to at least get one quick one
|
First success back today, Pat Neshek 4/2. Sent 2 2010 Topps cards, got back 4 minor league cards, all just in the envelope not using the toploaders I sent. Pic coming shortly

Going out tomorrow:
Pat Neshek 2 or 3 2010 Topps cards c/o Rochester Carlos Gomez 1+ Twins cards c/o Milwaukee |
Yesterday I got Alexi Casilla IP and Herschel TTM, pics coming soon

Same bat as the Pavano auto |
2 RTS's today that were short postage, I guess it's too much to send 2 cards with toploaders, index card, and folded SASE, going back out tomorrow with an extra stamp
|
skip the toploaders - saves on postage and makes it easier for the person to sign and return. I've seen some posts on here where the person will sign the toploader etc.

I don't want them to get too damaged though |
I don't want them to get too damaged though
Believe it or not, I have only had 1 card damaged and I send them all out without toploaders. I have had 2 cards that were damaged in toploaders (the card slid halfway out and then got creased. I also have had 2 toploaders signed on the toploader... soon as the 2nd one happened I stopped sending them in toploaders. Also, the USPS machine rollers can bend the toploaders and they can get smashed and caught. The card itself can easily bend through the rollers without any damage. Just my .02 :) hope that they start rolling in for you in mint condition :) |
2 successes back today
Brian Duensing c/o Twins- 1/1, 7 days, personalized. He's done great this year, shutout last game, pitching tonight Jon Rauch c/o Twins- 1/1, 7 days. Must have been going quick, auto left a few marks on sleeve, smeared a tiny bit, but great auto |
Don't send in toploaders. It's like flushing 2 stamps down the toilet every time. Instead, I put two index cards in between them. Not too heavy or thick, but just enough so it adds a little protection.

That's what I'll do next time. And it gives you a chance to get 2 extra autos if the player signs the index cards :)! |
One success back, Koji Uehara. But he signed the penny sleeve . Now I've had about everything, RTS, signed sleeve, extra cards, personalization. But now I'm done using sleeves and toploaders, not sure if I'll send back to him or not.
|
In all honesty, I keep the cost even lower by using business size envelopes, folding the SASE in three and placing the card inside. It's done a great job of protecting the card to this point. :)
|
One success today
Pat Neshek c/o Rochester, 2/2 16 days. 1 of the autos is perfect, the other one smeared pretty bad, I'd take a picture if I knew where my camera went |
Another success back today, Jeff Reardon c/o Home. Signed the card and inscribed toploader: "1987 WORLD CHAMPS". Pictures coming shortly of Reardon and Neshek, going to send out some more tomorrow
|
nice, you broke the ice! they will start piling up now!

Went to the Twins game today, got 5 autos in about 90 minutes before the game. Pat Neshek, Jesse Crain, Jeff Manship, Alex Burnett, and Jose Mijares
 |
I gotta tell you, I love the look of that Neshek with the gold border and the red ink. :)
|
Thanks :) I brought a green sharpie too, couldn't find a black one :). Was going to try to get Pavano to sign the Twins Franchise History Topps card and get a few more to sign that one, but he just kept running sprints
