Default When Bidding for Auctions?

I was wondering what those of you do to figure out the highest that you should go when bidding on a card?

If it's on e-bay do you take a look at the sales of the card and just divide it to get an average? And work from there?

Input would be appreciated.

Thank you, Jamie

Depends on if the cards are graded or not. If graded then yes its a lot easier to look as previous sales at that grade and do the average and how badly you want/need the card for your PC/Set. I generally stay away from vintage ungraded/unauthenticated cards.

Couldn't care less about price guides...I decide how badly I want the card and therefore how much I am willing to pay.

A combination of the population report and past sales.

VCP is an excellent tool for tracking true value.
