Default Potential Vintage pick-up...anything specific to look for?

So I'm making my venture into vintage cards and have little knowledge of what exactly to look for. (unless they're graded) May be picking up 1958-68 Topps, but want to see if there were any specifics to be on the look for in case of possible fakes. Are counterfeits hard to spot or are there dead giveaways?

Any help is appreciated as I'm taking this transition from modern to vintage slow and with much needed caution. I bought a small collection in the past only to find out several of the 'vintage' were actually counterfeit...definitely hurt my pockets to say the least...

I'm looking forward to this new venture and thank everyone in advance for any input along the way...
Check out my Ebay store daily for new additions...PM me with some of your wants/needs....

So, good to hear I rate military disability....too bad it's 0%....
