Default 1st ever vintage card! Ty Cobb

I posted this in the baseball section, I didn't realize there was a section just for vintage thought. Just wanted to share my excitement. I bought a case of Heroes of Sport and pulled this:

Luckily about a month later the Tristar show came to town and I dropped it off at SGC's table. It came back today as:

I actually bought HOS looking for a Bryce Harper or Ichiro, but after having this card in my hand, I'm afraid I may start to get addicted to vintage stuff. I'm already debating which card I should get next!

I don't collect Baseball, but that might be one of the greatest pulls of all time. Congrats!

To start your collection off with an all-time great and a card that most people would never even think about being able to own is a fine way to get addicted. I loved Vintage since I was about 7-8 and I'm 31 now. Doesn't go away.

Very cool. I have this same card in a PSA 4 and will never forget the story how I got this one or any of the other big ones I own. Congrats.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I used to walk by the booths that sold vintage cards, but I think I'll be spending more time at shows now, lol.

Insane pull, better then any of those 1/1 superfractor modern pulls. Vintage is king and will be the best chance for your cards to hold value and be worth something someday in the distant future. The new modern shiny stuff will mostly lose its value and fade away when people realize it is mostly all just fluff. Congrats on the Ty Cobb I would be happy to own that card in poor or Sgc 1 condition let alone a SGC 3!

Wow, what an incredible card!

I'm 25, have been collecting since I was 6 or 7, and I've never been into vintage. But about a month ago I stumbled across a 1933-34 Ice Kings card (vintage hockey) for $5 on eBay and I snatched it up. Now I can get enough of vintage! Even non-sport vintage is amazing.

@Giantsdude24 - I have a new appreciation after holding one in my hands. I guess the superfractors are pretty to look at too, but when holding something that has so much history behind it, a totally different feeling is felt.

@grw80 - thanks! I would take any though, lol.

@Tivo32 - wow, you're younger than me, haha. It's good to see somebody in their 20's appreciate vintage! Best of luck in all your search!

Haha yeah I love it. I really like the old cigarette non sport sets. So many cool military and nature sets.

Bat-off Cobby is one of the classic vintage poses. Congratulations.

Default Great card to start with!

Congratulations! That is the best card I have ever heard of starting a vintage collection with.

I fell in love with vintage cards when I was 11 and was collecting 50-60 stars and HOFers when everyone was buying up Greg Jeffries cards (ok, I'm really dating myself now!). About 7 years ago I started adding to my collection again after a 12 year hiatus. I am mostly collecting modern cards the past few years, but still love the design and feel of old cardboard!
