Default Rare find? Some help would be appreciated!

My uncle bought these at a flea market this morning and we can't find any info on them. The first two measure 7 X 8 1/2 and the satchel paige measures 11 X 8 2/3. The team photo is of the Homestead Grays. Also the backs are blank. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wow, if those are genuine, that looks like a pretty good score.

Go to net54 forums. There are a lot of vintage photo collectors that will help you. I would be interested in the grays photo depending on of I could figure out the year. The satchell could be huge money.

Definitely take them out of the frame and look at the backs. Net54 is probably a better source of knowledge for vintage memorabilia.

Not sure what the Paige photo is, but I know it is a pic of him at Yankee Stadium before a game on August 2, 1942. He was playing for the KC Monarchs against the NY Cuban Stars.

found it! Yours is trimmed and in rougher condition. Worth around $300 or so.

The more I look at them, I believe they are reprints. The team photo is of the 1937 team. Hall of famers Buck Leonard and Josh Gibson are in it.

If these were original photographs, they would be clearer and less grainy. The colors and shades are a little off to.

The first one is Rube Foster of the Chicago American Giants (and Hall of Famer). It's a common image of him so that's almost certainly a later print.

I think they are reprints but older reprints from say the 50s or 60s

1942 Satchel Paige Kansas City Monarchs Original News Photo
Not really comparable. The one in the auction is a press photo, printed in 1942, and has the original caption as well as the captions from the paper when it was used (multiple times). These were sent to papers to use for printing.

The OP said the back of his was blank so it's not a working press photo. It may still have value but it's not in the same category as the linked auction. Nonetheless, the link is still a good find as it gives more background on the photo.

Yeah, came to the conclusion that they are reprints but still real old. We didn't pay much and I think they are cool so I'm happy!.

Found some info. All 3 of those are reprints. They were faked as real in the early 80s and aged to look old. Worth about $5-$10 each. Display them and enjoy them.
