Default Just bought a 7000 card lot from from the 70's...

Just picked up this collection locally for a pretty solid price. Wondering what would be the best way to sell them(eBay, comc, etc). I have never really dealt with pre-1990's stuff. Most of the stuff is in EX condition, but the range would be VG to Nrmt. Below is a list of some breakdowns so far and a couple decent finds(If only the condition was better):

Baseball
1964 Topps - 8 cards
1966 Topps - 66 cards
1967 Topps - 6 cards
1968 Topps - 6 cards
1969 Topps - 17 cards
1970 Topps - 31 cards
1971 Topps
1972 Topps
1973 Topps
1974 Topps - 1300+ cards
1975 Topps
1976 Topps
1977 Topps
1978 Topps
1979 Topps
1980 Topps
1981 Topps

Basketball
1973-74
1974-75
1975-76

Football
1967 Philadelphia - 2 cards (G-VG)
1969 Topps - 6 cards (G-VG)
1970 Topps - 12 cards (G-VG)
1971 Topps - 200+/- cards
1972 Topps - 20 cards
1973 Topps - 800+/- cards
1974 Topps - 150+/- cards
1975 Topps - 250+/- cards
1976 Topps - 40 cards -----No Payton
1978 Topps - 100+/- cards

Hockey
1973-74 Topps - 100 cards

EDIT - I have received many offers and I just want to let everyone know that I am still sorting and deciding what sets I am going to try any finish. I have the 1971 and 1973 Topps BB broken into team lots. I am likely going to try for complete sets of 1974, 1975 and 1977 Topps BB as well as 1971, 1973 and possibly 1974 Topps FB. One problem I am running into is deciding what condition most of the cards are. I am quite picky when it comes to condition and I don't want to price these too low or high as I would rather the person buying these gets a "fair" deal. I will post more scans of each set to show an average grade of what they are. I should know more about what I am doing with these by next week and the scans should be up by then. Thanks for looking.

Looks like my scanner likes to cut off some of the edges. I'll have more scans after I go through more cards.

Probably get more bang for your buck through ebay, at least for the bigger stars. You might want to sell them in lots after pulling out what could sell/trade for singles. Super nice stuff could go to PSA for grading.

That being said, I would be interested in a bunch of 70's rookies if the price and condition is right. Hard to tell on some of those scans, but I wouldn't mind a better look at Walton, Winfield, Bradhsaw, Stabler, and Thiesman. I also could give you a list of some others to see if they are in your lot.

If you want to make a list I can get you better scans. Looks like it was never picked over so most RC's are in there... Didn't find a Brett, Henderson, Schmidt, Ozzie Smith, Payton, Staubach or Spurrier RC's... Looks like I have most of the rest. They aren't it the best condition, but I think I did good for $150.

EBay is your best bet but remember that once you surpass 200 sales, paypal reports all your sales to the IRS.

haha, gonna have to pass on that one. I think shipping would kill me! Originally they wanted $400, but I played the waiting game. It was posted on a facebook sales group without pics. They sent me a couple pics and said there was a Pete Rose RC and a Dr. J RC. Turned out the Rose was from 64 and beat to hell and the Dr. J was from 73-74... The rest of the lot looked solid though. Lots of "star" players from the 70's. Best part of the lot was that fact that maybe 1000 of the cards were from 1988-1992, and the rest were 1981 and older. I didn't expect that.

The paypal reporting threshold is actually 200 transactions plus $10,000 in sales.

When you sell larger lots on Ebay do not mix years. You will get the best money from set builders by listing them as a single year. Take a look at COMC to see what some of the mid grade cards go for. You may want to sprinkle these into your lots to increase interest.

The 1971 Topps Football cards look to be in great condition. You did very well for your money!

If you decide to move some cards here, I would be interested in any 1966 and 1973 baseball, plus any Hawks and Falcons cards.

In regards to selling your cards away from BO, star cards would probably sell better on eBay, but commons might earn more money via COMC, if you're willing to wait for them to sell. If you want the money quicker, making team or year lots of the commons for eBay would be the best bet.

Nice pick up. It's always good to pick up vintage stuff at a fait price. I'd be interested in a 1971 football lot if you group them that way.

Looks like I am going to put most of the baseball in team lots. I am thinking about putting together sets of 1974 BB, 1975 BB and 1973 FB. Going to see how I do selling the team lots of baseball first. I have 1971 and 1973 sorted so far. I will probably sell them as lots with all years included(easier for me). If anyone is interested in any of the lots, you can shoot me a PM and I should have them all sorted in the next couple days. My only problem is pricing the stuff out as I have no idea what the stuff goes for. I will list them as AG or better. I took out any cards with card loss, writing and multiple creases. Cards range anywhere from G-Nrmt.

A way around the 200/20k limit is having multiple paypal accounts works best if you have two separate ebay and two separate paypal with two totally different names, banks, socials, etc. on them. However I wouldn't recommend doing this as it is illegal probably. I don't do it but many do.
