Post Question on grading t-206s

Recently I picked up a T-206 Perry Lipe from my LCS. It's definitely in poor condition, but it was a great price so I decided to get it. When I got home I looked it up on Beckett which said the poor BV was $60. I only paid $8 for it, so I was wondering if there were variations in pricing based on how "poor" a card was or if I just got a really good deal. Thanks for the help!

There are variations in a "poor" grade and they are pretty much the color and overall condition of the card. That card has nice color so it would bring more than a card that just looks beat up really bad.

Great deal for $8. Also, consider that he is a Southern Leaguer. That has a major impact on values of "commons".

You got a great deal. Get him graded/authenicated.

That is a fantastic southern leaguer! Easily a $40+ card in that condition. Congratulations! Welcome to the world of the monster. I have over 400, and have 120 left for my set. I've been at it since 2003. Have fun!

Raw the card should fetch $30. Once slabbed you can expect $40-$45.

Which is the best service to get T-205s and T-206s slabbed?

Edit:
I have these two bought a while back; would love to get them slabbed if possible.

SGC - possibly PSA, definitely NOT BGS or BGV

Anything I have that is pre-war is ALWAYS SGC.

to the OP - yes, if you get the chance, get your 206 graded - you have a Southlander card which typically commands a better price than your standard 206.

Encased, you could get anywhere between $30 to $60 depending on grade.

I agree with SGC for pre-war. I think their slabs look the best and they have a better rep with these.

SGC for Pre-War. But on those two there is 0 doubt they are real. There is almost no doubt they both will grade a 1.....and if it were me I wouldn't spend more than a card is worth to get it slabbed. Buy a couple more cards and save your money, imo. Most of these below aren't slabbed either...

And to answer the OPs question, you got a very good deal. The card is worth multiples of what you paid, as was already said. Nice job!!

PSA is the best for my money on my tobacco cards for grading.

SGC second, and BVG a distant third.
