New Member from Northeast Ohio

Hey all! I haven't been a lurker here for too long, but I loved it immediately and had to sign up. Seems like a nice casual card collector atmosphere.

Giving you an idea of who I am, I'm a 25 year old from northeast Ohio (middle of nowhere, closest 'major' city is Canton at about 40 minutes away) who just got back into the card collecting game (after being out since I was about 11-12) when I started buying all the 2012 Topps Chrome at my local Walmart stores. Now I'm obsessed with it again.

After taking a while to decide who to collect or if I was going to be in this strictly for money and selling purposes, I decided to collect my favorite team, the Cleveland Browns (yes, I know) and pretty much everything else is for sale or possibly trade.

Thanks for taking a look at this, and I'm excited to be in the forums!

Welcome to the forums!! I am not too far from you in Toledo. There are lots of guys in ohio and especially NE ohio.

tfunkontheradio 01-25-2013 08:27 AM

So I have seen, and thanks for the welcome! I'm hoping anyone from the Cleveland/Canton/Columbus areas can provide me with ideas on decent card shops so I don't have to always frequent Target and Walmart.

Welcome from Youngstown!

tfunkontheradio 01-25-2013 09:10 AM

Thanks, Big! I haven't been to Youngstown in years, what's the story over that way?

Very cool - welcome! The first step to rehab is admitting you have an addition, so you are clearly on the right path! But, it only gets worse, especially with all the box & case breaks around here --- impossible to escape! :D

The Browns are an interesting team for the future, I think - between Weeden (is he staying in Cleveland, anyway?) & Richardson, nice solid base.

A guy I work with (another company) was trying to convince me to move to Cincy from Boston. Let's just say I politely declined... :D

Thank you, sir! With Weeden, your guess, as a Bostonian (is that the correct term?) is as good as mine, someone who follows the team every single freaking year. Richardson, on the other hand, is indeed a good base. I wish defensive players went better card sales-wise, because there are some crazy underrated guys on that squad.

As for the second part, I lived in Cincy for 10 months, and I loved it! I actually think Boston is a wonderful city, I'm just tired of them winning, haha.

Medina has a nice little shop downtown. Very fair pricing on Wax. Not great for singles though.

What's the place's name? I get up to the Fairlawn area every now and again, which I know isn't too far off from Medina.

Welcome from Strongsville. I highly recommend Grand Slam Sportscards, not sure the city, but it is at 422 and 306 (highway 422) out towards Geauga. Get off 306 and go south, 1st little shopping plaza on the right, not more than a 1/4 mile off the highway.

I live in the middle of freaking Amish Country. Everything is a long drive for me if it's going to be interesting, haha. The closest card shop worth it's weight that I even KNOW of is probably that one. Everything else is me ordering online or getting stuff at retail stores.

By the way, is this place open on Sundays? Just wondering, as it's about my only free day to normally travel that distance.

I don't think so. You can possibly call them, and ask for their hours?
