Black November Wave 2 is here … and here are five I'd grab
This entry was posted on November 6, 2020
.If you hadn't noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now right here as Blowout Cards' Black November sales are going strong with Wave 2 just dropping.
The first wave is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz once again had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases -- and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye ... and there's far more that just might suit your tastes in the big sale.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
2012 Topps Archives baseball hobby box
Here's one I didn't expect to see pop up ... but it's a longshot spot to chase a rare Bryce Harper Rookie Card that will pay for the box. It's not cheap now but these boxes can include all kinds of stuff. Among the basic autos? A ton of memorable (cheap) names and then guys like Don Mattingly, Gary Carter, Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr., Sandy Koufax, Yu Darvish and Willie Mays. There are also rare Karate Kid box-topper autos for sensei John Kreese (aka Martin Kove) and main Cobra Kai bad guy Johnny Lawrence played by Billy Zabka. Some rarer autos also include an array of top names but there could be receptions for that set in some cases so I won't focus on it ... but there are huge names there if live. There's a lot of other creative stuff here and two autos per box.
Keep reading for a few more boxes you should consider (and are likely to end up in Buzz's cart).
MORE POTENTIAL HERE VS. OTHERS
2019 Topps WWE Women's Division blaster boxes (and lots)
This release is one of the popular ones each year -- and they make a lot because of that, leaving more to be found later on -- but that doesn't mean you can't find some key stuff here. Unlike most all other blasters, the hit pack here can have (and often does have) autographed cards in here while other releases will only often have autographed Relic cards limited to only 10 copies. This one can include any of the autographed cards in the release and I pulled more than a few with ink. (Hit the Buzz Breaks section if you don't believe me.) This one has a lot of younger names that aren't necessarily money, but among the autos you can find here are Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Io Shirai, Kacy Catanzaro, Lita, Mandy Rose, Peyton Royce, Ronda Rousey, Trish Stratus and even Stephanie McMahon. And there are rarer finds also possible in this format, too. It's low-risk and hobby boxes are basically gone. You won't get an auto in every box but they do appear pretty often. To me, this one is the best of the cheaper WWE options in the big sale ... but you do have some choices.

A PAST FAVORITE
2015 Bowman Inception baseball boxes & cases
Confession: This one might be a first-wave box in the big sale but I think I overlooked it last time. There are presently 80 different Bowman options in the sale and this one stands out from the pack for me for a few reasons. One, it's all hits with mostly on-card ink and thick, cleanly cut stock. Among the ink here? Aaron Judge, Austin Meadows, Brett Phillips, Kris Bryant, Luis Severino, Matt Olson, Miguel Sano, Noah Syndergaard, Tyler Glasgow and Trea Turner ... and that's just the standard ink. Other sets can include Francisco Lindor, Javier Baez, Julio Urias and some of the names I already mentioned. Some booklets here can include those guys, too. It was a fun rip for group-breaks back in the day but they may not always deliver as well now (plenty of prospects here didn't make it) ... but I'd still give it a try considering possibilities.

HAD TO MAKE MY LIST
2013 Panini Golden Age Baseball hobby boxes & cases
I've opened perhaps more boxes of this one than any other of the "hits" era because they've always been on the cheap side and can over-deliver in both their hit volume and value. Each box typically has an auto and a memorabilia card and it's actually everything but baseball there that can make for a good box. Meanwhile, I've had boxes deliver as many as four hits. I've busted so many of these here that they might be outlawed by the boss at this point -- they're not but I fear that every time I post a Buzz Break (and I still have one more in reserve). Why rip here? The auto list includes The Bad News Bears, Bo Derek, Bobby Hull, Barry Switzer, Curly Neal, Henry Winkler, Jerry Lewis, Stan Lee, Penny Marshall, Sugar Ray Leonard, Yogi Berra and many more. And that's just the ink. There are sooooo many more surprises to be found in these boxes. For years, I've wanted to bust a case of this but there are 20 boxes per ... so I've done a case or two the loose-box route.

X MARKS THE SPOT ...
The X-Files Seasons 10-11 boxes & cases
Here's where I'll admit I've never watched a second of this show ever beyond perhaps some channel-flipping, but the show has its place in TV lore with a number of card releases, so ... it'll make my list this time. Why? Not one, not two but three autos per box for a price that's pretty modest in the big sale. The auto checklist is deep here but there are some names of note here. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are obvious big ones but there are also autos for actors here you should know from elsewhere such as Barbara Hershey and Haley Joel Osment. If you know somebody who liked the show, this is a no-brainer gift option at a solid price.

There's plenty more among the Black November sale items in the second wave -- check 'em out here -- and we'll have several more to come leading up to Black Friday.
