Bowman Sterling's return is full of prospects, rookies & ink

It's been a few years since we last saw Bowman Sterling as a standalone product -- it had lived on as inserts in recent years -- but that trend ends on Wednesday with a new full-scale arrival.

And with a glance at the 2019 Bowman Sterling checklist it's apparent that the fans of rookies and prospects will have plenty to chew on in this autograph-per-pack release from Topps.

You get five packs per box in this one and it's also got a 100-card basic card assortment that is half prospects and half rookies with the bigs you would expect on the RC front -- Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Austin Riley, Pete Alonso, Keston Hiura, Eloy Jimenez and Nick Senzel are in there among others.

Prospects? Hold on ... Seth Beer, Yordan Alvarez, Bo Bichette, MacKenzie Gore, Alex Kirilloff, Joey Bart, Wander Franco, Nolan Gorman and Brendan McKay among others.

And that's just the standard stuff ... we're ripping this one for ink.

The autograph portions of the checklist have some gems for both the right now and then for the future -- a mix of rookies and prospects that can hit all the marks now with some luck or pay off as prospects arrive. The triple-auto card above? It's one of five possibilities that also include a Mets trio with Alonso in the mix. There are also duals with powerful pairings like Guerrero and Tatis, Guerrero and Jimenez, Tatis and Luis Robert, as well a Franco and Ronaldo Hernandez.

There are also Sterling Retrospect autos with established stars the focus -- guys like Aaron Judge, Jose Altuve, Juan Soto, Kris Bryant, Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña Jr., Shohei Ohtani and Anthony Rizzo among others while prospects own the one-per-case diecut auto set as well as prospect autos set. Marco Luciano, Bart, Victor Mesa Jr., Victor Victor Mesa and Franco will be getting looks from a deep checklist that includes 60 signers in that set alone.

Rounding things out are rookie autos -- a more modest list -- with guys like Vladdy, Alonso and Michael Kopech among the 14 there but everything in this one has a key component that adds up beyond the names and the ink on the card fronts.

They all, of course, have a rainbow of Refractors.
