.Do you like Buzz Breaks? Today's your day then as we launch 12 in 12 -- a series of a dozen breaks of past wax boxes and wax packs in a dozen hours. We'll post one every hour on the hour all day long today ... and this is Hour 11.
The pack: 1978 Topps Three's Company wax pack
The cost now: $2
The cost then: 20 cents
What's inside this pack? Keep reading ...
Cards per pack: 6 (five stickers, one puzzle card -- all in gallery below)
Base set completion: 5 of 44 (11 percent)
Duplicates: 0
Inserts: 1
Puzzle (1) -- Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers)
Autographs/Memorabilia: Of course not
What's Buzz-worthy: This pack is pushing 40 but the tales of Jack Tripper, Janet Wood and Chrissy Snow remain ageless and this simple product is one that totally follows a super-simple template -- albeit one where the stickers are the cards and vice versa -- that works. Open the pack and you're greeted with a blank-backed sticker then a puzzle card that's dual-sided that says nothing. The gum here -- nope, it wasn't tasted -- didn't damage any cards but did have a ridiculous amount of powder all over everything (including Buzz's keyboard). That didn't cramp the style of the crew. Four of the stickers in this pack were campy studio shots -- no studio audience, though -- and one showed a scene with Mr. Roper talking to Jack in the kitchen. This could be a fun set to build out of packs since it's so small and they're so cheap but you can also pick up the set for not much more than a couple of packs at this price. High-grade singles (10s) of these cards can command some pretty decent money, too. It'd be fun to build one of these sets in graded form.
