What's Buzz-worthy: As said in a past blaster break here, Donruss is back on the track with a subset-loaded release that's full of variations -- easy pulls that help make them fun and not a burden as they are easy to spot -- with plenty inside a box that feels like it's not the norm. That's amplified even more dramatically for hobby boxes and they're so stacked that they apparently even over-deliver on the hits based on this one. At its present price, all of that makes this a fun rip. The variations for standard cards are easy to spot -- the names or nicknames are centered -- while the 1985 Retro subset cards carry nicknames. The set leads off with Race Kings, then five Rated Rookies, base drivers, base cars, Retro cards and then Legends. There are 25 variations atop those 175 cards, giving you a bit of a challenge but ultimately a fun challenge that's far from impossible. Buzz picked this one up at The National for the wrapper redemption packs and it was worth it as this lower-priced box delivered five packs -- the second-most of anything in the Panini lineup. Even without packs, this one was worth it with ink of the Daytona 500 winner and a pair of strong memorabilia cards. The only sliver of disappointment here was coming up three cards short of a base set with a number of dupes. Overall, this is a fun break and there's a ton to chase. This was a good box and yet it can easily be topped if you land some rarities -- look up 2018 Donruss Hailie Deegan sales and you might be surprised. There's plenty more beyond the newcomers, too. This is a fun one that's quite affordable.
