Autographs (1) – Vanessa Borne (redemption)

What's Buzz-worthy: It's been a long time since I've gotten an autograph redemption in retail -- and I don't think it's ever happened in a WWE retail box -- but these are both signs that this isn't the typical kind of release. Every blaster has a hit in this one and this one is available for the first time via hobby boxes this year (one autograph and a second hit every time). Walmart blasters include exclusive Women's Champions cards, which are nicely done showcases of past and present champs at all levels, while the Memorable cards are also past looks at highlight moments. The base set feels dramatically improved this year and it was relatively strong in the past. Also apparently exclusives in Walmart blasters this year are autographed kiss cards and autographed shirt Relic booklets (one in 1,002 boxes). The drawback? Parallel cards are essentially non-existent here as they start at one in 109 packs and are even harder for the easiest parallels of the inserts. (One in 453 packs for a Silver Royal Rumble parallel.) You can land printing plates (one in 386 boxes), kiss cards, shirt Relics, mat Relics and commemorative belts. I won't disclose how many I've ripped so far but autographs are flowing much easier for mess far vs. last year (which was rough). A small base set means you'll land Ronda Rousey's Rookie Card in roughly every other box, which is a plus. That won't help values over time, but it helps people get them if they want them more easily but the parallels should stay strong. This release is blasters and hobby boxes only this year, which is a good thing as last year's hanger boxes and loose packs had long odds that didn't seem all that reasonable. This year? This looks much better and I'm off to a strong start. It's worth a rip.

It's horrible that Topps is still doing that Redemption crap. This hurts people who buy these boxes several years from now or those who won't open their boxes right away. Ridiculous!
