What's Buzz-worthy: For a second year in a row, this one drops its emphasis on artwork in the base set but still plays with a gallery aesthetic to present a pretty strong delivery of cards showcasing past and present players. This premium-box approach includes more packs and two autographed cards every time from a deep checklist packed with big stars (probably at lower volumes) and a ton of rookies, which is perhaps what you'll find more often. This one included ink from a couple of veterans -- one older, one not -- but I don't think they were highlights really here over some of the other stuff. I landed a few damaged cards here and there (this box was dropped) but nothing really dramatic but enough to nix some grading potential on cards like that Franco insert. (A bummer.) Meanwhile, centering was a bit all over the place here, too, as you can see on Strider (up-down) and Witt (left-right). The RC volume here was nice and I landed a few of the key names there but I feel like this one came up short of a bigger A-level card -- but it had a lot of volume of solid stuff. And there were a ton of Hall of Famers and retired guys not mentioned here, too, to balance out the rookies volume-wise. Odds-wise, this one delivered pretty much the standard stuff. All in all, since there are only two formats -- it's retail-only -- I might try one of these again if it presents itself as there is some strong potential here without a high-end price.
