What's Buzz-worthy: I wasn't intending to grab one of these right away but something felt right when I spotted this one out and about in big-retail box-store world so I bit ... and it paid off with a rarer auto of a first-string name and a young guy who was a 1,000-yard rusher last year. So that, combined with a mess of inserts (same volume as last year) and an appearance by the No. 1 overall pick among the rookies (plus a ton of players from my team just like him) this box was not only fun but an easy A+ as it was just $24.99. Check out my Golds -- Purdy and Hamlin, two high-profile names last year -- and my numbered parallel was a rookie. A bigger name there alone probably pays for a box or close to it. There are packs out in the retail wild seemingly costing more and delivering less in my mind ... or it seems that way. Just like last year, these boxes pack plenty of cards in only a few packs -- I like that move as bigger packs protect cards better -- and they don't appear to guarantee a hit ... but there a numbered parallel only found in blasters is assured in every box. The base design is still a little retro clunky for my taste -- I said the same thing last year -- but I like the scoreboard design more than I had thought I would and there's just enough variety among the non-base that it doesn't feel boring while still being pretty heavy on base cards. The base set subtlely works in past stars among the first 300 with the last 100 players being rookies. It's not the crispest package of stuff but I have definitely seen rougher boxes with higher prices attached. As a collector, it's one I might chew on more if I were a 100-percent NFL fan as there's a lot here and rookies in their pro uniforms, too. Landing Young in my first blaster and that auto might be a challenge to replicate again -- or at least somehting closer to it -- probably won't happen. So this may be a one and done in a good way -- a good taste and call it good.
Product Grade: A- (the scoreboard design looked funkier on the preview mocks than it does in-person)
Box Grade: A+
Fun Grade: A-
