What's Buzz-worthy: This bargain-bin box was about as good as it gets with two top rookies, a boatload of stars -- there were more notable names I didn't mention but not as valuable players -- and then the typical inserts. It was almost an A in my book this time but I think it needed one better card somewhere among the inserts to get it there. ... This was probably the only MLB release of 2023 that I bought in closer to my typical volume and this box shows some of the reasons why. It's simple, it's retro, it's cardboard and there's always potential for more ... though at long odds. No Chrome needed. ... I still think it's a pretty solid re-do 0f 1974 but this one once again reinforces my previous thought that there needs to be more in Heritage boxes through the rest of the 1970s years (save for maybe this year) to get things a little more interesting. Why? If things are too tough to find -- a lot of better stuff here is longer odds in all formats -- then there's no point in opening and the basic stuff won't gain value, either, if boxes remain findable or if the overall volume made is high. ... Hit hobby boxes for a guaranteed hit in every box -- and there are a few autos in every case -- and that's how I'll eventually do more (as long as they're available).

Product Grade: B+
Box Grade:
B+ (really strong star power and depth among the base while inserts were weak)
Fun Grade: B+ (star volume here was good)
