What's Buzz-worthy: Some recent late-night bouncing around online stores had me land in the comic-con realm and today (Halloween) seems like the best day to roll out this find via the GalaxyCon site (that' now sold out). What is it? This indy wrestling promotion, Fantasy Super Cosplay Wrestling, puts a pop culture twist on things in the ring as the con travels and this offers some live on-site entertainment to boot -- and it now has cards. It's not a new promotion -- it's been around more than a decade -- but the trading cards are a bit newer twist (at least in this in-pack form) with three series in advance of this one. (There are other card sets made beyond the four but I have no idea if those were approved by the promotion or not.) What made this a must-grab for me? Well, the Lady Frost card was the only teased image with the set but as an indy name who has been a bit of everywhere -- including AEW, Ring of Honor, NWA, WWE for starters -- I bit since she doesn't have a lot of cardboard. Once I opened the pack (all are the same but I grabbed four), I found a top AEW name in MJF and others I know, too, despite not dabbling in the indy realm as much as other collectors. This one also has a cameo for an actor who had a con moment (Roger Clark from Red Dead Redemption II among other projects) and it should be interesting to see who might be found in future sets as there are a lot of notables who have suited up -- check out this section of their site -- for one-offs or a few appearances. An alumni set would be big (Shotzi as The Nun, please ... Sü Yüng in all her personas, too) but even more cards per series would be cool. These cards are crisply and cleanly printed -- a couple are in a grading submission I sent out that's how clean they are -- and with a modest pack price for some good names there could be some interest out there ... since a lot of people didn't know they existed (even some of those appearing on them). All in all, these are simple, fun and affordable. Well done ... now I need more.
