Borderless Autographs Red Crystal Pre-production Proof (1) – Jose Canseco (1/1)
What’s Buzz-worthy: That's a first for me. In the pre-hits eras of collecting I simply had one core target on my mind, Mr. 40/40 Jose Canseco. Before the emphasis on hits took control of seemingly the entire industry -- and prices on his autographs really priced me out as, well, once I have one auto I don't need too many more at a high price -- this was the guy I stockpiled and, to a minor degree now, still can pick off at times to add to my past stashes that are easily in five-figures for the volume of cards. But, I can count on one hand the number of times I pulled an autograph of him from a box and if I added that to the times where I pulled a 1/1 card, well, then I'd still have three fingers left. In other words, this is my first time pulling a 1/1 of him from a pack and that'll go with my lone pulled auto ... though I definitely have others in both categories (I think ... this might be my lone 1/1 overall) where I picked them off as singles. I didn't expect this, but I'll take it given the price of the packs here. A win for me. ... I picked off a group of these multi-sport packs recently for some extra surprise factor when ripping -- plus, it's hard to beat sub-$5 1/1 packs -- and for some quick and easy variety here just like the women's set packs I've opened heavily, too. (Look for both sprinkled in here in the coming weeks.) ... This set includes stars from sports with less cardboard as well as traditional sports like baseball, basketball and football and I like this approach as it's something that could trend affordable while remaining unique and something that could pique the interests of a lot of collectors out there. There's a lot to find here as you'll see in my upcoming packs -- and you never know how interest for stuff like this might grow over time once the packs are no longer easily found.

Product Grade: A
Pack Grade: A (a win for me ... the first time I've pulled a Canseco 1/1 despite owning literally thousands of his cards)
Fun Grade: A (only one card ... so these will be hit and miss)
