What’s Buzz-worthy: I got my hands on another batch of these for a good price -- it's hard to beat sub-$6 1/1 packs -- just for some quick and easy variety here and just in case I landed some better names on interesting cards. This was a strong start with a proof that would be for a dual-auto of two heavily-watched WNBA and college basketball stars with Plum new to Los Angeles and Cunningham new to the Caitlin Clark universe in Indiana after several seasons in the league. Plum is a name I'd try to collect if I had infinite cash -- her resume is stacked with a pair of WNBA titles, a bunch of WNBA awards and a mess of college accolades but with few of her early cards in existence that makes prices get a little unruly for reasonable dabbling. (The 2017 Rittenhouse WNBA set was limited to just 500 copies. That's it.)  ... The autos for this card have sold for as much as $140 for the 1/1 -- they have a lot of cards in recent years -- with asking prices as high as $300, while like this proofs here have done as much as $20 but I suspect they could out-perform that with well-timed auctions during the season. (Maybe ... I'm an optimist when players aren't on ass much cardboard as the leagues with 20 sets a year.)  ... Why open these? This set is a landmark one with its focus -- a set focusing on women's sports stars and others around the sports realm -- and ripping a box or two is on my radar but, for now, I picked off these promo packs as a taste test for how things look in-hand. ... The backs are blank here an ink doesn't happen here, of course, but a lot of big names are possible and that's part of the appeal to me with these -- the wide array of possibilities with everything being a 1/1. ... There are many varieties per card with all the colors and textures and in this case the proofs are not in stickered-shut top-loaders this time -- that might tweak the feel here slightly -- but overall, I like this approach as it's something that could trend affordable while remaining unique and something that could pique the interests of a lot of collectors out there. There's a lot to find here as you'll see in my upcoming packs.
